View Full Version : Interesting Nameservers
kmb999 11-17-2001, 08:52 AM I did a search for c6q.net (was bored, thinking about registering a new domain). I found out it was taken, and the company that's selling it right now did some interesting work with the nameservers...
NS1.THIS-DOMAIN-IS-FOR-SALE.COM 216.167.107.149
NS1.EMAILUS-DOMAINSALESATDOMAINCOLLECTION.COM 208.62.23.134
NS1.TO-BUY-THIS-DOMAIN-FAX-305-463-9709.COM 208.62.23.141
Lol.
mkaufman 11-18-2001, 04:29 PM These people have a ton of domain names..I've ran into this myself at least 5-6 times..
Fremont Servers 11-18-2001, 05:03 PM That's pretty cool.
I guess these people are creative.
Dylan 11-18-2001, 10:04 PM Those domains are for sale.
I wonder how much they auctioning it off for?
mahinder 11-19-2001, 02:50 PM i enquired about 1 such domain and they quote me > $15000
:cartman:
muppie 11-19-2001, 05:33 PM These people are domain squatters and it is unethical to do so.
It is ok to buy a domain that you are planning to use yourself, but buying one for the sole purpose of making other people pay for it for a high price is something else.
otherground 11-21-2001, 04:17 PM I once had the opportunity to own F**K.com ... it was staring me right in the face screaming REGISTER ME!!! REGISTER ME!!! ... and I declined ...
also could have registered philly.com which would have been cool b/c I'm from Philadelphia ...
For the rest of my life I will wonder what some smut company would have been willing to pay me for F**K.com ...

I actually remember reading a few articles about how it was impossible to register that name and NetSol (the only registrar at the time) would not allow that name to be registered, though it seems to have been registered now.
netsolutions 11-22-2001, 02:44 AM Ya I remember back then when there was no profane laungage allowed in domain names. Now we just don't give a f**k
Domenico 11-22-2001, 06:54 AM Yup, f**k.com could have bring you some cash.
It makes me ill seeing sex.com only has a few banners and it brings the owner millions a month.
Who says life is fair???
They should give the money earned with sex.com to all the poor people all over the world, in a perfect world offcourse... SIGH!
otherground 12-01-2001, 10:18 PM just remembered ... it was F**KYOU.COM that i had the opportunity to register ... not just F***.com ... ehhh well ....

I don't agree, if someone finds a domain name that they think may be worth something in the future, why shouldnt they buy it and make a few bucks on the deal? If it's NOT a trademarked name and your not buying it to sell back to an established company (with same name) it's fair game.
