I use Trillian, so I can use AIM/ICQ/MSN/Yahoo all in one program, course I do the same under linux with Everybuddy..

I use trillian too, however I still use AIM separately. I talk to more people through AIM and therefore end up using the file transfer stuff which Trillian currently can't handle. The new version supposedly is going to have that ability, but I'm not holding my breathe.

ICQ is my favorite because of all of the advanced features, but I use AIM and MSN the most. Once in a while I use Odigo, which supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, and itself.

I must admit . . . . . I like the improvements in Yahoo!'s new 5.0

Call me crazy, but I prefer MSN over any of the IM clients listed.

I find ICQ really annoying. Not only is it spam central, but ads on a message window? That's pretty lame to me.

Its really easy to get rid of the ads ;)

I think AIM's interface is the easiest to use, but I rather using ICQ when talking to techies ;) . I love to be able to send buddies a message when they are offline, and easily send them to multiple people, like a group of customers. Also ICQ doesn't mess up html and other code like AIM does.

IMO, Trillian tops them all. Because it is all of them. :D

Yahoo is like a blend of AIM and ICQ.
It's easy to use like AIM and has the message archiving feature everyone likes so much like ICQ.

Trillian is cool but it hogs resorces when you have only 32mb ram......I use AIM for the file transfer and games it fun :)

ICQ always gives me the blue screen of death, even though I now have 192MB RAM instead of 64, and I'm running a very old version, 98a, I think. I like AIM the best, and these days everyone uses it, so there's no point in me opening another client.

I use Trillian for AOL/MSN/Yahoo but ICQ on its own for file transfers

I downloaded the latest build of ICQ to fix some bugs and i was finally happy to see a shut down option when the program is in the tray!! after all these years, it was never an option (always would have to double click so the program shows up and then Main > shut down)

Trillian + MSN standalone for me. I do that because Trillian tries to share MSN contacts if you use more than one MSN account at a time. So all your MSN contacts see both your work and personal accounts. Trillian doesn't keep ICQ seperate either, but ICQ doesn't announce your contact list to everyone on it, like MSN does.

I don't miss file transfers because my most frequent contacts are on Trillian or a MacOS clone too :D

What will happen when everyone uses third-party clients? (Unfortunately I can guess) :(

Here's that Trillian what we're all talking about: http://www.trillian.cc/

I use Trillian. The convenience of having all four IMs and IRC in one outweighs the missing features (i.e. file transfer). Plus, those will be eventually become available. I have the XP Metallic skin on Trillian and love it.

ICQ gets my vote, though I use ICQ, MSN, and AOL.....

Maybe it is just me but I like the ability to send someone a message offline. Though one can argue that it is just as easy to send them an email I find that with all of the junk email floating around these days your message is more likely to be read if sent through ICQ. I.E. when sending email your message is likely going to get deleted with all of the junk mail in the box by mistake.

Which brings me to my next point.

JUNK EMAILERS SHOULD DIE.................

Jabber IM ... It allows you to access all of them at once as well. However, AIM seems to have blocked the jabber server from connecting to them for some reason. I think Jabber is awesome based on the little time I've used it so far. :) Plus, the founder of Jabber lives and operates from my home state of Iowa, so it has to be a good product. :D

But not compared to having AIM, ICQ< Yahoo, MSN, MIRC loaded seperately.
