Reimplemented the ban on internet taxes... ah?
Supposedly, they are going to start charging ISPs for every email that are sent from their network... or so I heard; but you know how crazy ambigious rumors get started and piss people off even when they are not true.
Whether it is true or not... I have yet to find out.

It's just one of the oldest and most heavily circulated mass email forwards, and has no basis in fact at all. In fact, if you read the message it's commonly sent in, the supposed bill number isn't even of the style that would be used in the US Congress, and the senator that supposedly sponsored it doesn't exist.
As for what the first post is referring to, the Senate yesterday passed a 2-year extension to the ban on new internet taxes. The House had already passed it, so it will go to the president for approval.
It's probably not the end of the issue, but since the original Act had expired in October and talks aiming at restructuring it or allowing the states to come together on an agreement had pretty much stalled, the extension is sort of a compromise.

Well as a web host, you are still required to collect sales tax from clients who buy from you if they are in a state that has sales tax. They consider it data processing :(

The long standing email tax hoax was brought up in a TV debate last fall between the two major Senate candidates from New York.
Both candidates muffed it, stating they were opposed to the bill! But Hillary won anyway.
