Buy Our Web Hosting is going to go to their own dedicated server but we have some choices to make.

What would you all recommend if starting a new web hosting company.
1) cPanel w/ WHM AutoPilot
2) DirectAdmin w/ WhoIs.Cart\

We already own the WHMAP license and WhoIs.Cart is cheap so price will not matter.

Thanks in advanced as always.

I think clients like cPanel more than direct admin.

Cpanel seems to be market leader. It could come in handy offering tools customers are familiar with - especially using the backup functionality of Cpanel when moving between web hosts.

Ive never used DirectAdmin so i cant really comment on that but my customers love Cpanel more than Ensim which is the other control panel we offer.

I LOVE Direct Admin. It is easy to maintain and upgrade. Clients like it. There is a Fantasico type addition available for DA now, new skins to enhance the appearance of the GUI, and a very active support forum where people are willing to share information and as well new ways to may using a already easy to setup and use control panel even easier and better.

I highly recommend it and can only see the future offerings of Direct Admin getting better and better.

cPanel is alot more advanced than any other control panel. I think users are attracted to it.

Cpanel is the way to go. Customers usually love the features and the flexibility! Have you taken a look @ both of them and decided ?

Greetings:

Have you thought about H-Sphere from http://www.psoft.net/ ?

You get complete hosting automation (no band aid like solutions for support, billing, etc.).

H-Sphere handles provisioning, support, billing, etc.

You can add servers to your H-Sphere cluster as you grow your business.

H-Sphere doesn't care whether the servers are in the same data center or not. So you can have Window 200x servers with one data center, RedHat servers at another, and FreeBSD servers at yet another (or all in the same place).

Thank you.

Both CPanel and DirectAdmin are user friendly. Actually, clients do not mind using any of them bcos they have nice graphic user interface.

It just depend which panel you like to manage.

It's funny to see who is recommending CPanel...most have something like less than 300 posts on this board. Most never tried DirectAdmin.

Anyway, there is a good thread about DirectAdmin. You should check it :)

H-Sphere is the best control panel in my opinion if you plan on growing your offerings.. Cpanel and ensim are designed to run on an individual server.. each server runs web, dns, mail, etc. H-Sphere lets you delegate services to servers, so you can use multiple operating systems and scale better.

I would say a lot of the customers that I've talked to seem to be most familiar with cpanel since it seems to be the more popular.

Like the others, I personally have never tried DirectAdmin, but have never seen the need since cpanel has always met my needs.

direct admin all the way, you can't even allow users to edit dns entries in cpanel. cpanel has a lot more (many useless) features. direct admin's support team is quick responding and very helpful. as an admin, it's a lot easier to manage everything from it, just 1 login, just 1 port, no stupid webmail link (issue of having to log into the control panel to use webmail). but try the demo www.directadmin.com and see for yourself.

I personally am not that found of DirectAdmin, it doesn't seem to provide as much control as I like. Theres really nothing you can't do with WHM (;) you can even do about 50 things you'd never want to). Forgive me if im totally off, I admit I haven't run it myself - just my impression from the demo.

I think the CPanel name draws customers, but DA is building quite a following as well.

Would you trust having a Webmin-like always open on your CPanel full of bugs? Not really! I don't like the fact you can configure everything on your server within a web-interface.
