Now that I'm sponsored, I need to find an ad rotation script. Having shopped around, the one that caught my eye was WebAdverts. Any opinions on it?

If you'd like to suggest an alternative, here's what I need:

Multiple sizes (banners on main, buttons on others)
Control panel for adding/removing/etc...
Expire in x days
Stats for sponsors (optional)
SSI
Perl
No more than $100

Thanks

try http://www.adcycle.com
I use it. It's free and it works great. Though you have to telnet and have mysql capable host to run it

I have a nice, well designed cgi script that sounds like what you are looking for. Email me and I'll send it off to you.

adcycle can be installed without telnet, I installed it previously for one of our clients. I highly recommend it, it has a lot of features and runs MUCH faster than any perl scripts doing the same job. It is also a lot less CPU intensive (your host will like you).

Really? How can Adcycle be installed without Telnet?

I agree, for a free script, Adcycle is very good. Also Everyone.net is using it for its banner newtwork, or so I heard

WebAdverts work but it is a burden on server.

Adcycle sounds goods.

AdCycle is one of the best IMO.

Easy to install and works great.

this is confusing..

i read that webadverts v2+ and above is alot less server cpu intensive and that adcycle is alot more memory intensive ?

i have checked out wanderer's dot-banner.com and am thinking of getting it, but right now i use webadverts 2.15 and have downloaded but not yet installed adcycle as i am unsure of the burden on my MySQL database which already runs a vBulletin forum with up to 16 - 18k pageviews/day and 1,000+ posts/day

if webadverts is cpu intensive and adcycle is memory intensive, which would be better on a dedicated server running up to 40 web sites ?

We have adcycle running on multiple hosts, some with as many as 200+ virtual sites, one of our clients sites that virtually hosted comes to mind, with about 25,000 page views per day, we have adcycle setup for them, and the host hasn't said a word about it, I assume this means it' still in the okay zone of not using too many resources, cpu or memory.

Now as far as webadverts goes, im sure some people will have no problems with it, on the other hand we have it installed on a site that only gets around 5,000 page views per day, and it bombs out, often times not showing the banner at all, right click on the banner in IE and choose show picture, and it comes in, don't know whether thats the fault of the server their on or the webadverts itself, only know that the client is not happy with it, and they refuse to pay us to change them over to adcycle which we believe is much more stable as well as presentation to the client of their information.

I have used Webadverts before and if you plan on serving more than 100,000 ads a day you will need to look elsewhere. As long as you keep deleting accounts that are no longer used you should not have a problem. I was up to 400 accounts and then it started to die.

Daryl is working on a database version that is totally rewritten and it appears a lot of people are eagerly awaiting it's release.

I hope I find out. Right now I'm at 150 views a day with a total of 4 accounts set up (sponsor's 480x60 and 120x60, and a Your-ad-here type 480x60 and 120x60.)

I'll check out adcycle.
