Hi All,

I'm interested with VDI colocation services.
Does VDI use 95%ile rule?
As long as I know they are using Megabit/sec method.
So what's the different between their method with 95%ile rule?

Also, I was wondering if there are any good and low cost colocation services with a good web controlpanel and does NOT use 95%ile rule.

Ugh..95%ile rule really really scares me :(

Thank you.

95th percentile _is_ effectively MBit/s, except you have an uncapped burstable line, and you get billed for your burst rate (after chopping of the top 5% highest burst rates), if you go above your quota.

Dialtone's "GB" is really just a bps rate converted into a "gigabytes per month" value, rather than "bits per second" value. It's not really different in how it's measured, what is measured, or anything like that. All that's different is the unit (kind of like inches versus centimeters -- both measure the same thing, it's just in different units)

VDI does NOT use the 95% rule. They use actuall moved traffic or what is about the 50% rule when you view a chart. They go by overall average.

They're a lot of threads that have discussed the 95th percentile very clearly. Instead of having everyone try and explain it again, do a search and you'll find a wealth of info. Or go to Duster's site at:

http://techcellence.net/bandwidth.htm

It has a good explanation of the 95th percentile method.
