Who is cogent and what is their URL?

No one.

http://www.cogentco.com They are a sorta different backbone..... They offer 100Mbps for $3,000 and 1Gbps for $20,000 Which means hosts can offer bandwith for Extremely cheap prices.. :-) I do think I remember Pegasus is thinking about offering cogent servers... :-)

Cogent only links into telecom hotels, or carrier hotels.

They don`t offer no assit in the network, so you need to know what you are doing. You control your own announcements ect..

They don`t stop floods, or offer network assist, that is why they are cheap.

Cogent is currently available in most US Cities, and can be found in the carrier neutral facilities. A few colocation facilities offer Cogent but you have to have your own servers, the most these guys do is remote hands (Install your servers/monitor/reboot).

You really need to know what you are doing before making the leap and committing - the service is more geared towards a wholesale type of customer that can manage their own servers.

<edit> The service is cheap and so far the people I talk to seem to like it, myself I use InterNap because my bandwidth needs are small.

Any idea which neutral facilities might have them? Names?Telephone numbers? Urls?

Any on the east coast?

I am currently creating a complete list and I will send you a copy, I want to include colocation facilities. The Cogent reps will only give you carrier neutral locations they are currently pushing to meet some type of quota and seem to exclude some of the better locations.
