Could someone shed some light on this pricing structure, I have had my own server for a year now but my co-lo charges a flat rate and I have never seen them offer per gig or per amp like Affordablecolo does. I am looking into building a new server a breaking away from my RaQ it would be a 1U and right now only has about 15 sites using very low bandwidth right now say around 7 to 10 GIG per month and that's streching it a bit.

What would be the best to go with, per gig or rent the 1U spot plus power and roughly what can I expect for a monthly bill?

*Pay by the rack pricing does not include power, power is billed at $8.00/amp. A 1u server will use on average 1 amp of power. Circuits can be installed in 5 amp increments.

*Bandwidth is calculated on 95% usage (95%) utilizing mrtg graphs based on the standard of 320gigs per 1mbps. Overage charges of $3.00 apply.

Thanks
Gil

I would say that you probably will have:

1U = $35.00
1 Amp Power = $8.00
10 GB of Bandwidth = $15.00

So,

$35.00 + $8.00 + $15.00 = $58.00/Month.

Charles from affordablecolo should be around here and could probably confirm it. The 95th percent throws me off, not sure how that works.

Actually are per gig signup are now being charged by the gig NOT 95%.

In addition our 35.00/month colocation includes power so if you colocate with us you only pay $35.00

Thanks for the replies, That clears things up quite a bit, I am paying way to much right now! Not asking you to advertise for competitors but is this pricing pretty much standard?

Right now I am paying $87 for a 1U , 2 ips and 40 gigs per month. My provider has been excellent helping me out while I got my feet wet playing with Linux while still having the security of the cobalt GUI but I think it's time to move on a save some money.

I will be in touch...
