Does anyone around here NOT use CPanel? There is so much talk about it and it's going to drive me insane before long. ;)

I was hosted a long time with a host that used it, but I myself have never run a cpanel server. I suppose that doesn't count, and my brief usage of it has tainted me. I feel so dirty. ;)

Plesk and Cpanel seem to be the two most popular control panels used by hosts that frequent this board, and I know that many hosts, including us, are eagerly awaiting the release of NOCsoft

CPanel works, and it's quite flexible so most people gravitate towards it. Beyond the critics, it's a good enough bit of software for what it's supposed to do, and for the most part does the good well. (with a little checking behind the scenes on occasion).

NOCSoft? hehe... well I think we're *all* waiting to see that one :D If Jag or Felix get their coding into overdrive they might have a shot at the current hole in the market

I want... no, I NEED nocsoft to let me point a subdomain to a NON corresponding directory.... Same with ftp accounts. The place before this spoiled me with those features. It needs waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better documentation too. How long has it been out WITH uncompleted documentation. That's the really sad part. There should be a list of all the functions too for those of us making our own cpanel templates. well I could go on and on about things it needs, but back to waiting for the <sarcasm>over informative</sarcasm> nocsoft. :D

What? You mean that two year old, arrogant, abusively written PDF isn't good enough for you? *lol*

lol. Well I could only wish all the good things in life came with manuals that had "Coming Soon" on a bunch of pages.

I'm eagerly awaiting HostGUI (greg ;) )

Also i use Plesk 2.0, in the current market, Plesk 2.0 is the leader (in my opinion).

When I look at a post on these forums about e-mail or whatever, it seems like about 80% of the time it also has something to do with CPanel.

Hi!
Most of my clients have cpanel servers. I guess this is the most common conrol panel in the market.
Another thing common is that all these clients are always complaining about the bugs in cpanel.... :)

Have a great day :)

CPanel is loaded with bugs. I still use it because I cannot find anything better. I'm awaiting for few new control panels which have been listed here.

I think Alabanza's control panel was the most stable one I've used. Even thought it's not loaded with many features, but at least it won't give up on you like CPanel.

I have had no problems with Cpanel, and I use the design at cpanelskins.net but I guess that is just customizations. But its the best CPanel I ever used. But I remember that green cpanel.....I so disliked the slowness it would put on my56k modem....I couldnt load anything but that....

Looks like a few hosts will be shifting over to H-Sphere too. That panel seems to have improved. I'm interested to see the future of cpanels now, with these new ones cropping up, there'll be a lot more competition, and not every host will look the same :)

Does anyone here develop their own control panel? We did our own control panel, we couldn't find a good product, but that was like 2-3 years ago.
