basically they are offering a rackspace and connectivity for your server. You pay based on the rackspace needed and the connectivity you want ... It's called colocation service ...

cheers,

Thanks for the reply m8, appreciate it:)

Just some more things, am i right in saying you just provide a server, and they offer a service that allows you to connect your server?
If so do they provide bandwidth, if so how much. They have stuff like 2mbits for bandwidth, which i couldn't understand the meaning of - what does higher mbit mean, and do you pay for the more bandwidth your server uses, or do you get unlimited bandwidth - because there isn't any reference to bandwidth that can be purchased:confused:

Any help appreciated :)

2mbits. Means 1 Megabits per second transfer. And 1 Mbps ( megabit per second ) is about 320Gb per month. So 2Mbps is about 640GB per month.

Is it calculated something like this:
60*60*24 = 86400 seconds in a day
86400 seconds * 30 days = 2592000
2592000 seconds a month

2592000/8 = 324000 megabytes month
324000/1024 = 316.40625 gigabytes a month (around 320gb)

Is this the way to calculate the bandwidth correctly?

Bout right.. YOu pay them like $50 to house you're server. Then more to provide internet connectivity so that you're server is availbile to the net.

So that link i posted, they provide space to keep your server in and internet connectivity right?

So if i am using MY OWN server, why do they have this at the bottom:

Illegal files, Adult Services, Pornography,
Escort Services, Pirate files, Warez,
Serialz / Crackz, IRC, Any MP3 files,
Slander / Libel, Impersonations,
Promotion of violence or terrorism,
Racial / Sexual / Political discrimination
and other services we deem inappropriate.
Spamming / Junkmail is not tolerated

If i'm using my own server, am i not responsible myself, thus I SHOULD DECIDE what is OK and what is NOT????

And are there any better ones in the UK that offer similar service to this?

Thanks

Aloha
well might be becuase they do not want it going over there lines
remember it is there place of business there routers there connections etc..
also a lot of those kind of sites do not bring in happy people that get spammed etc.. also if it is not legal ??? and they do not want to bring that down upon themselves. also I would think that those kind of companies are fly by night operations and they choose not to do business with them ;)
kind of like controlling who comes over to your house to stay ;)
many other reasons they can use
illegal in my state or country etc...

even if you do this out of your home you could find yourself without internet service.

think of it this way you own a condo and some drug dealers move in and start pushing drugs and prostitutes ???
you go tell them I can loose my condo if you do not quit they tell you well I am renting here its my business what I do ???

were not trashing the place were just running our ring out of here.
when the cops take away your condo you are crying in court saying well I wasnt doing it they will say yes but you owned the place of there business

just my thoughts ;)

also legalities aside, almost everything on their list is virtually assured of either attracting huge amounts of traffic, or attacks on the system, or both.

They're offering a massive amount of transfer there, but like everyone, they're quite happy with if you *don't* use it all. :)
