How would you go about adding firewalls to linux boxes?

i was told two ways..

iptables [which i have no idea]
and
getting a firewall off of rpmfind.net

any ideas?

iptables provides the basis for a software firewall. Then you have applications like Bastille for Linux (and others) which manage iptables for you.
