View Full Version : Purchasing Domains For Clients

hello, I was wondering which registrar other hosts use to purchase domains for their clients? Also, I would like to give the client total access/control over the domain, so if they would like to make any changes they could do that within the registrars control panel. But the only stipulation that I would like would be that the client can only see the domain(s) that they purchased, not every domain in the account. Does anyone know or use a registrar for what I have described above?

Thanks

Check out dotster's (http://www.dotster.com) affiliate program.

With that you can integrate the registration into your website, and get a comission. The user can then have total control over their domains using dotster's control panel which is modified to fit the look and feel of your site.

Best of all.... it's free. :)

Thanks for your replies guys, I have been looking at dotster as well as www.dotregistrar.com and they look pretty good, but I was just wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with them (namely dotregistrar.com), and were those experiences positive?

Hi,

www.000domains.com also has an affiliate program, they pay good commissions.

I like Dotster, personally.

Another thing to keep in mind is that I think it's highly unethical to register a client's domain name under your name. I've seen people do that before and the bad thing is, the real people who need the domain name can never transfer it anywhere without your permission. It's like guarding a smaller version of peoples' life savings.

I use Dotster's system for one of our sites, and while their system certainly isn't bad, I think that at 12 bucks per domain it's simply too expensive.

Before the cheap new registrars including Stargate and GoDaddy came on the market, that wasn't a bad price. In today's world however, 12 bucks is a lot to pay for a domain name.
