Hi,

How do you all handle billing for your accounts you resell? I would like to hear how you do it. I am looking at 2checkout and PayPal as my payment accepting solutions. Do you bill all users on a set day of the month (like the 1st)? Or do you bill every 30days from account creation date? If you bill everyone on the first, how do you handle it if someone signs up on the 14th, do you charge them for the whole month? pro-rate it? How do you handle mid month cancellations, do you refund part of the fee? I would like to hear of the easiest best way to handle billing. Remember, using 2checkout and paypal (and checks via mail).

Thanks!

You won't need to handle billing with 2checkout as they have recurring billing and will take care of this for you.

I believe that paypal also has this type of feature.

There are several avenues you can take. Just do a search on merchants and you will come up with more than you can handle. Authorize.net is very popular and you need a third party to receive their services by someone like charge.com. you can use billing software such as modernbill.com which ties into authorize.net.

If you don't want to have your own merchant account, you can use a third party service like ibill.com, revecom.com, paypal.com, and etc. Less headache, but high service fee.

We use a local company to handle all of our credit card orders. Not free, and it's a manual process, but we don't have enough traffic to consider anything else.

I have a question about recurring billing.

Clients use there credit cards right, so what happens if there card expires, number changes etc etc - how will they get a recurring bill?

Call the client up and tell them their credit card is expired and that you need a new number: if they don't respond within a week or 2, disable their account until they pay up. If they still don't pay up after two months or so, then delete their account.
