View Full Version : Do you offer domain registration?
mantra 11-13-2001, 01:00 PM How many resellers offer domain registration as an option?
I am thinking about signing up for dotster's reseller program.
Let me know if you offer it and think it's a great addition to your site.
Chicken 11-13-2001, 09:23 PM If you sell hosting, then offering domain registration is kinda' a no brainer.
mantra 11-13-2001, 09:25 PM yeah, I figured.
It makes a great addition to any web hosting site.
Who is everyone signing up through?
I am considering Dotster.
Locutus 11-13-2001, 10:14 PM For US domains, I use www.stargate.com as they offer really cheap domains.
For UK domains, I use www.ukreg.com as they are also really cheap.
mantra 11-13-2001, 10:46 PM How is stargate reseller program?
Locutus 11-13-2001, 10:49 PM They have a reseller program, but you have to prepay $200 credit plus a $50 signup fee. Then you get the domains at $8.00
Personally, I prefer just to pay the $8.85 :D
mantra 11-13-2001, 10:55 PM wow, that's not worth it at all.
I prefer to pay the $8.85 or even sign up with dotster where domains are $10.00 and I can resell for any price.

Isn't www.123-reg.com better and cheaper?
ShellBounder 11-14-2001, 04:56 PM I like Dotster myself, they've got a nice API set for seamless integration into your website. Domain Bank, although expensive, also has a nice affiliate program with (I think) a 15% commission on all domains registered.

You have it wrong...stargate.com reseller plan is as follows:
The 210.00 you pay includes 20 domains @ $8.00 each and the 50.00 setup fee for their API. Thats a good deal in my book. :)
Or signup for their affilate program and get 1.00 back on every domain. That means your only paying 7.85. ;)
Quill 11-15-2001, 01:41 AM what about those transparent affiliate programs like the one from mrregistrar (http://www.mrregistrar.com/) ? :rolleyes:
I'm a reseller of http://www.onlinenic.com/.
It's been great so far and they offer cheap price!
(I'm with 10-domain package at the moment and
will upgrade to higher package soon).
mantra 11-18-2001, 05:20 PM has anyone ever tried http://www.mrregistrar.com/ ?
looks good, sounds good .. but how is it really?
Anyone try any other domain resellers besides dotster, onlinenic, stargate, and bulkregister. Looking for a reseller that has no membership fees or startup costs.
Thanks.
mrregistrar.com it's not a registrar company. They are affiliates from itsyourdomain.com.
You pay ownership change with them ($35)
dynamicnet 05-14-2002, 08:41 AM Greetings:
Our parent company offers domain name registrations through OpenSRS (TuCows).
Thank you.
kevinwholder 05-14-2002, 09:02 AM godaddy.com offers a private label program for just $99 annually. This is what the website notes as its plan highlights;
Private Label Plan Highlights:
* Hands-off processing and payment service
* Use you own private label name & company name
* Online, password-protected, real-time sales statistics
* $0.25 off Go Daddy's per-year retail prices for .com/.net/.org
* $0.25 off Go Daddy's per-year retail prices for .biz/.info/.ws/.info
* Domain retail prices for all services set by you
* Go Daddy Software will not market to your customer base
* Auto-populate DNS entries default to your hosting plan's DNS & IP addresses
It allows you to set your own pricing structures as well. Not a bad deal but there may be better ones out there. I use dotster right now but I am considering switching to godaddy's.. Reason? I like the ease of use and feel of more control there.. Just my opinion. Thanks, hope this helps
peachtreewebworks 05-15-2002, 11:27 AM For those web hosts using the Dotster Reseller program, isn't the customer having to enter their credit card info twice? Once for the sale that is actually processed by Dotster and then again to whatever payment process you're using for the hosting?
Incognito 05-15-2002, 01:33 PM Yes, they do have to enter twice. But, when you explain that they are protected by controlling their own account, they will be glad to do so. Of course, you could let them buy both from you and then you purchase the domain for them, but I don't advise that.
Personal Preferences:
No particular order.
OpenSRS-so professional, can start with $250 (25 domains). Price is $10/domain.
Dotster-I have never had any problems with them, works smoothly and although their price is $12, they absorb the credit card costs.
ENOM-The third of my favorites. $450 startup cost (50 domains). Price at that startup $8.95-have lower prices for higher upfront pay-as low as $6.95.
The Others:
I will not ever use GoDaddy for reasons having nothing to do with their service. 1-they contact your customers regularly trying to make additional sales including hosting. 2-They sell for only $.25 more than they charge you on their retail site. 3-They have somewhat hidden fees such as a charge to transfer out.
I do have some at Stargate, but find their system and particularly their DNS updating and sharing somewhat subpar.
Hundreds of others-just not enough track record to go on many of them and others have too many problems. The one other I am tracking (and testing) is gkg.net - Prices 9.99 to a low of 6.99 without upfront fee.
intercraze 05-15-2002, 10:59 PM I would recommend using Opensrs.net . I think there service is great, and they have nice online software to manage domains on the administrators side as well as the clients side. And at 10 dollars a domain to resell. Can't beat that, also you can charge whatever you want to the public. But as a reseller you are only charged 10 dollars by OpenSRS.

Choppy 05-15-2002, 11:13 PM I would not suggest onlinenic.com if you are a Private label reseller and you would like to offer to your customers there own nameservers!
Even though they seem real cheap there control panel is buggy and only domains that have been registered for 5 years or longer are permitted to create there own nameservers etc...
Not good if your customers are private label and register for less than 5 years.
Just my $100 ( It cost me to transfer the clients i registered )
Kind regards,
