I'm expanding overseas, but I don't know what the good dedicated server rental places are. Can people please recommend some good ones in the UK and Australia? Much appreciated.

Their site looks half complete. Can people please share other sites? Slidey 04-16-2004, 05:35 AM in the uk take a look at poundhost.com they've just built their own dc, and so far ive no complaints at all. They're fast with installations, very helpful and a lot better priced than some of the supposed better companies based in london. infrastructures good, peering is good, support and communication of issues all great too ChrisMayhew 04-16-2004, 06:07 AM I would say PoundHost for support and price, but i find the network speeds lacking alot, i am in the UK and i was getting very bad network speeds and my ISP said that my line was running fine. If you want a test file feel free to PM me nickc7 04-16-2004, 02:31 PM Originally posted by ChrisMayhew I would say PoundHost for support and price, but i find the network speeds lacking alot, i am in the UK and i was getting very bad network speeds and my ISP said that my line was running fine. I would be very interested if you could post some info on this. Chrysalis 04-16-2004, 03:40 PM I am in the uk and have pmed him, will post back with result. --edit-- he cannot recieve pm's yet, so havent pmed him. Chrysalis 04-16-2004, 05:39 PM I was provided with a testfile and got 122kb/sec on my 1mbit connection, so speeds seem fine to me. Unleaded 04-18-2004, 02:35 AM A very good australian dedicated server host is: www . ozservers . com . au Stupid spaces, just because I've recently joined I can't post URLs :( Bashar 04-18-2004, 05:48 AM check also poundhost.com, very nice network and Maff@WHT is really good also :) JakeLloyd 04-18-2004, 07:20 AM What are you looking to use the dedicated server for in the UK?! TDMWeb 04-18-2004, 11:21 AM Take a look at www.webhostchat.co.uk -- a bunch of good UK hosts hang out there and you will get some good quotes. othellotech 04-18-2004, 03:57 PM Can people please recommend some good ones in the UK and Australia what o/s , what spec, what level of transfer, how many servers ... the more info, the better the recommendation meeting your requietrements for UK try 4dhosting.com kdawebservices.co.uk securahosting.com etc coight 04-18-2004, 04:08 PM Originally posted by Unleaded A very good australian dedicated server host is: www . ozservers . com . au Stupid spaces, just because I've recently joined I can't post URLs :( They only have a 2mbit link ;) Unleaded 04-18-2004, 07:15 PM No they don't - they have a 2MB to Comindico for incoming and a 1Gigabit link straight to the Optus Backbone, both which they route over to Optus via BGP if utilisation goes over 70%, which it hasn't for a while (In a few months it’ll be 1GB in and out). Protection against DDoS attacks is done at upstream NOC's and routers. FUD dismissed. Either way, it’s a better network that having a box in the ‘el cheapo’ Brisbane powertel/datafast datacenter, which if recent events seem to dictate – has absolutely no redundancy at all, let alone anybody in the NOC (if you could call it that) to even fix problems in an acceptable amount of time. |
