I´m having an error message when I send e-mails to a big ISP.

host mx10.bol.com.br [200.221.11.50]: 450 Client host rejected:
cannot find your hostname, [69.93.xxx.xxx]: retry timeout exceeded

The ISP told me my server has a incorrect configuration on reverse DNS.

Different than my other servers, the traceroute ends with a different IP. I´m not sure if it's a problem.

Ask your ISP to add a valid PTR record for your IP address.

Yep! Needs the reverse DNS sorting out. Your ISP should be able to sort this out with no problems.

Yup, I had this problem with AOL/Yahoo before, I just emailed my datacenter and had them set up reverse DNS on my IP's.

A simple email saying "Can you please set up reverse DNS for my IP's as follows:

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - sub.domain.com
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxy - sub1.domain.com"

etc

It´s now OK.
The problem was in the reverse.

How long does it take before a reverse ip takes place?? is like like 24-36 hour as in domain name propagations?

If there is no PTR record in place already, it probably won't take more than a couple of hours. If there is already a PTR record, though, it could take up to a day before some servers discard the old data (assuming they had it cached) and ask for the new data.

All of the above is assuming that your ISP is using typical TTL settings.
