To tell whether or not your a reseller? or to lie and say your a hosting co? Basically, DON'T LIE, BE HONEST WITH POTENTIAL AND CURRENT CLIENTS!!!! A few lost customers is far better then a tainted co. image that you will get when it is found out your lying. All those sites talking about their multi-million dollar NOC when they can't even make a website as nice as a MS Frontpage Template piss me off. Be honest!! robjwilson 11-13-2001, 09:24 AM sorry its yes tell then ur a reseller no pretend to have ur own servers mantra 11-13-2001, 12:52 PM yes, I think my clients have the right to know that I am a reseller. But I don't think this should be posted all throughout my website. I might include it in the about us page or if they asked, I will gladly inform them. remarkable 11-13-2001, 01:02 PM One of the first rules is to be HONEST.. No mater what with the customers. Be honest... Be truthfull... Be upfront and be HONEST. There is not beter way to loose customers than to LIE. (well maybe providing poor service is up there too.) Fremont Servers 11-13-2001, 01:56 PM You can be both a reseller and a web hosting company. If you say you are a web hosting company, nothing is wrong. If you say you are a reseller, nothing is wrong. :D Martie 11-13-2001, 02:42 PM Honesty is definitely the best policy..... If you are a reseller....then "sure" tell them, if they ask. gcjeepster 11-13-2001, 04:36 PM Originally posted by robjwilson sorry its yes tell then ur a reseller no pretend to have ur own servers What if you ordered & use dedicated servers? ShellBounder 11-13-2001, 11:14 PM Originally posted by gcjeepster What if you ordered & use dedicated servers? Then you are a Webhost, period. You're simply leasing a server to do it on. Most small companies either do this or colocate a server. Dogma 11-14-2001, 01:32 AM Originally posted by gcjeepster What if you ordered & use dedicated servers? This whole situation is about reselling, no owning servers. Basically, I'm not saying you should plaster it all over your site, but maybe say "We have teamed up with XYZ Host to provide you with their quality hosting and our excellent service" or something like that. Just don't say you own your own servers or built a expensive datacenter if you didn't! and be honest!! UNIXIELHOST 11-14-2001, 01:40 AM I agree most 13 years old tend say "I own a servers" yeah right, they are bunch of resellers, stolen sites, crappy service. gee it never stop, agree? Fremont Servers 11-14-2001, 02:15 AM Originally posted by josephp I agree most 13 years old tend say "I own a servers" yeah right, they are bunch of resellers, stolen sites, crappy service. gee it never stop, agree? I see a lot of well established web hosting companies say it too. Anayet 11-14-2001, 02:12 PM Originally posted by gcjeepster With reseller programs, etc... it is possible. Thats scary, especially if you end up joining them and putting up an important site. I thought most companies require you to be at least 18 years old. What on earth would a 13 year old know about anything. Does anyone know of a hosting site run by a 13 year old, would like to see what they can achieve. One Web 11-14-2001, 02:29 PM well im not the one to blow someone's spot so i will not say. but there are a lot of them. but i dont think its a problem for small personal sites. for my biz site i will be a little more careful gcjeepster 11-14-2001, 02:39 PM Originally posted by Anayet Thats scary, especially if you end up joining them and putting up an important site. I am not sure where you are geographically but in the southeast they are starting to teach CISCO and MSCE courses in high school so as our lives progress... we will soon have 17-18 year olds graduating high school with multiple IT certifications.... and the real scary part is that companies can suck them up for little to no money. |
