Yep can you believe it?

I got up this morning to discover every web-site displaying the default apache page. All virtual host entries in the httpd.conf file were no longer there. Just as well there was a backup. The guys who made cpanel have some explaiing to do. No doubt they will blame it on me having modifed the server configuration or something like that.

OUCH ... I am sorry to hear this ... Good you have the backup httpd.conf ... But still, your clients won't like the problems happening to their sites ... :(

cheers,
: beer:

I don't mean to sound as if I know what happened, I don't, but how do you know what happened? You didn't seem to post enough info about this.

I can't say for sure what happened to your server, but I know we have several CPanel based servers and NONE had this problem.

To be honest i dont really know what caused it. but what else other than the control panel could remove half of the httpd.conf file? The box doesnt look like it has been compromised or anything like that.

This can happen if the update operation is interrupted with something such as a reboot. It can also happen if someone is adding or removing a subdomain during the cpanel update.

CPanel makes a backup copy (httpd.conf-) whenever it updates the conf file. Good thing, too. :)
