dektong 11-13-2001, 02:25 AM Geez ... and people complaint about Burst being several days late  You obviously is very patient ... if I were you, I will look for somebody else ...
cheers,
cyansmoker 11-13-2001, 06:17 AM I totally agree with Dektong:
when you read their replies and the replies dates, there's obviously something very wrong going on.
Did you call them and discussed your options?
addaction 11-13-2001, 11:03 AM It is very sad in this industry that these companies can not give a better support to their customers. It seems that the managers of these companies can only "talk" to computers and not humans...... imagine how succesfull they could be if they could do both.
As for my advice... keep calling/e-mailing them until they deliver or try another one with hopefully more success.
Anton

AND LIQUIDWEB SAYS NO REFUND!!!!!!
for services they COULD not and DID not do!
Deb Suran 11-20-2001, 03:15 PM If you paid with a credit card, dispute the charge through your bank, or chargeback the amount you paid.
MattF 11-20-2001, 03:24 PM Thats disgrace. I would do a chargeback immediately, if anything they should be compensating you.
>no exceptions to this policy.
There are always exceptions. Tell them they haven't provided the service they advertised, and your lawyer will find an exception.
ProjectJB 11-20-2001, 03:54 PM I doubt they will credit him sounds like they need the revenue to keep their business running and to hire someone who knows what they are doing.

:D very true :)
addaction 11-20-2001, 06:32 PM If you did not get the service you ordered, you can dispute the charges on your Credit Card. Do this when you receive your statement with the charges on it. Provide the CC company with all the correspondence you have (e-mails, forms, time of phone calls etc.) Document your case as good as you can.
You might also want to consider filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in your state.
I also considered once signing up with LiquidWeb. I called them and asked for a money back guarantee period. They said they would give me that for 15 days. They did not sound very professional, nor their website, so I did not use their services.
Good luck
Anton

choon 11-21-2001, 03:15 PM Hi SignGuy007,
Err... is this a joke or what?
Ask for money again without refunding the money that you have paid for not getting the service
I hope your issue will be resolved soon and thanks for letting me/us know about your case :)
Regards,
Choon
BurstNET 11-21-2001, 04:56 PM << NO TELNET access!!!! >>
Try SSH...
Or was that not installed either...
SSH is installed by default, instead of telnet, by Red Hat 7.1 installs...
Sean R.
BurstNET
SignGuy007 11-21-2001, 05:02 PM Yes.. That works.
LIQUIDWEB said they could upgrage kernel for only $50.00, a break since others charge $300.00.
I would think that as this server was just put online it would have the UP TO DATE software installed!
Think THEY need cash!!!??
addaction 11-21-2001, 07:28 PM Look what I found on the LiquidWeb site:
"Customer service is a key element in the satisfaction of our clients, as we continue to go well beyond the expected when it comes to meeting the needs of our customers. First in having a knowledgable and well trained staff, second in ensuring that they are easily accessible when needed."
Well... they did go beyond the expected :D
Anton
bitserve 11-22-2001, 02:23 AM Well if you don't know how to upgrade the kernel, $50 for someone who does know how to upgrade it doesn't seem like a lot to me.
I'd be willing to pay $50 to have the kernel upgraded on my machines just to ensure that it was going to save me the hassle.
pcsteve 11-22-2001, 02:43 AM Lets review shall we?
1) Server went online, BUT
- no cpanel lic.
- no web host manager
- cant telnet
- cron error emails
2) No refund for something you paid for and never got?
There is no 30 day refund for dedicated servers, and there are no exceptions to this policy. ?
3) They will upgrage kernel for only $50.00. Only $50?
Is this a joke or what?
I don't mean to come down too harsh on LiquidWeb, because sometimes things just don't go as planned.
But, gosh!!
At least they could say "sorry, we are having problems setting up your server and will have it fixed at this time ..bla bla bla... or something. Rather than, "it's going to be up in 24 hours"...and 48 hours later still no server (or a server with nothing installed :eek3: )
*cough chargeback :smokin:
SignGuy007 11-22-2001, 03:09 AM +++UPDATE++++
- Cpanel
- Web Host manager

and its still down 8hrs later...
....I think Im going to look into VDI for a dedicated server
skylab 11-22-2001, 05:04 PM liquidweb is a joke.
i know of at least 10 people who tried their services and hated them with a passion.
middle of last year, i was looking for virtual host for one of my websites, which i moved off of my first website who was going out of business. the old host recommended i check with my new host before i signup, just so i have an assurance that they would allow my auction site. which are known to be resource hungry.
this, at the time, was a 10gb transfer per month / 50mb storage auction site. to be sure, i emailed them a long drawn out letter, about how i'm interested in their service, but, i just wanted to check with them beforehand to see if a site such as mine would be accepted and wouldn't encounter any problems on their servers.
my response. was exactly this:
"We do not accept resource heavy websites."
the end. nothing else.

......WOW........
Chicken 11-23-2001, 03:23 PM Seems fine to me. Please don't post temporary problems to the forum until you talk with your provider and attempt to resolve the situation. I realize patterns and experiences are important, however, it is very likely that a server will go down at some point, a network will have a temporary burp, etc.
SignGuy007 11-23-2001, 05:56 PM LW seemed to fix this problem(and other problems / errors) only after reading this post(s).
access to the server was down for two days. Even AFTER they said that everthing was fine! support ticket never answered.
SignGuy007 11-29-2001, 02:09 AM ====UPDATE=====
LiquidWeb dumped...
Almost a month with a non functional server. Too many errors on your part LW.(delay in setup, delay in Cpanel setup, compiled OLD kernel, then want to charge 50.00 for update, cant login to Cpanel error, Cant log into Web host manager error, cron errors-over 900 emails, etc etc)

as far as I know liquidweb is the only other access.
Root password has not changed! I get in thru SSH/TelNet
I looked at the bash log file thru ssh...
user Burst logged in... WHO IS *BURST??
still no Cpanel/Webhost Manager access
Bye Bye Liquidweb...
*hmmm?? maybe someone from Burst.xxx setting up Cpanel for LiquidWeb??
SignGuy007 12-03-2001, 04:03 PM ++ Well I dumped LiquidWeb++
But Im still getting cron Job error email from the SERVER they terminated as per my request.
http://66.96.230.13
Before I stopped my NON FUNCTIONAL dedicated server I logged onto the my billing account(on their site).. and erased my credit card info... then stopped service(via billing, support, ross).
The next morning They contacted me by phone to tell me if I did not update CC info. they would terminated my server.
-Why is it they dont read support emails, billing email, or support tickets, but they have fast service when cc info was deleted?
*** emails from server***
proftpd failed @ Mon Dec 3 14:28:30 2001. A restart was attempted automagicly.

How can I stop these emails?... as liquidweb, either wont or cant figure out howto...

* Im must say I(under an aka) do have a few virtual sites thru Liquidweb..Trouble free.
StarGate 12-04-2001, 09:01 AM ... stay away from Liquid Web. Everyone who wants to know WHY can find out via PM ONLY. I don't want to be calle a liar in here although I have TWO stories to tell.
Revelation 12-30-2001, 01:47 AM Personally, Liquidweb has been great to me. When I was writing a website (a little challenge site with a friend) we created a script that spiked the load up to 200. I sent a support request to liquidweb, and next day they sent me a reply. All I had to do was call them to get my website back, liquidweb promptly deleted the script and they were done ;)
Now I'm not going to hype these guys up, because the fact is that they aren't the best sys-admins out there. I'll outline the pros and cons of liquidweb instead.
Cons:
Can't configure sendmail for beans.
Routing matrix is down ATM. (DS3s not working)
Their tech support isn't the most knowedgable.
Pros:
mterry is elite ;)
Anon FTP, feature filled proffesional website package.
I get my own IP.
