While not on the subject f webhosting (thus the post in general conversations) the answer is yes, he can be put in jail, and no, he does not have to be impeached first. The President is not above the law, ala Nixon, Clinton, etc.

Just say no!

If the president could kill someone and get away with it don't you think Bill would have killed Hillary by now ;-) ... (I wish I was president when I was married to my EX-Wife ...let the SS take care of it ;)

It is likely that should such a heinous act be committed by a sitting president, the 25th amendment would be invoked ("Presidential Vacancy, Disability, and Inability", see http://gpo.lib.purdue.edu/bin/GPOAccess.cgi?db=constitution&type=TEXT&size=6117&id=3=6%20-6117%20/disk3/wais/data/constitution/amdt25.txt.wais;7=%00; for a good complete text and analysis) and the President would be deemed incapable of carrying out the duties of the office while simultaneously being investigated for a capital crime. Impeachment is presumably not a requisite for investigations of capital offenses by the office of the Presidency unrelated to the normal duties and powers of that office, but would probably be one of the outcomes of the hypothetical situation you raise.
