![]() | View Full Version : What's up with Rackshack? netsolutions 11-12-2001, 01:13 PM They are all out of the RAQ servers. They were suppose to have the linux dedicated servers by now? What is going on? jimb 11-12-2001, 01:23 PM I heard that they were expanding their data center and moving. Probably wont be online for a couple of weeks. But when they do go live, I bet that all of the services should be released together. Meaning those linux and managed servers with 10MBPS connections will be avaible. Cant wait. Jim netsolutions 11-12-2001, 04:36 PM There obviously has to be some catch. You can't offer 10MBPS connections for around $250 a month with the server. I think a lot of people are going to join then get sucked into a scam. UmBillyCord 11-12-2001, 05:39 PM I think a lot of people are going to join then get sucked into a scam. It is very possible with Cogent. They are going to use Cogent drops to the servers. Carinet/SD Colo does the same thing. jimb, you are excited about the Rackshack offer? It is the same one that SD Colo does. Yet you wanted people to add them to your unlimband site. Now RS is offering unmetered bandwidth to a limited port*, yet you sound excited. I am just curious since you are blacklisting some companies, but excited on others. Seems hypocritical to me. * This comes from here. (http://forum.rackshack.net/showthread.php?threadid=1128) JBIZ718 11-12-2001, 05:43 PM I consider this offer overall a scam. First the server cant handle 10mbps, and even if it could , the cost of a OC3 line you would bearly make any money 10mbps 15 clients x 250 per month = 3750 Not alot of money even on cogent I think for a company to offer this is just taking advantage of the customer, I think we have another ***** on the way, and there in the same state Joe jimb 11-12-2001, 08:03 PM The link from rackshack that they offer is not unlimited. Its a 10mbps line...meaning you can have like 3200. If they were to say unlimited.....i would go off on them. I feel rackshack is a very good company, and that they are rightfully just in that they provide a 10mbps. BUT!!!If people start complaining, then it will shift....who knows umbillycord....they may end up on unlimband.com....we will just have to wait. Jim UmBillyCord 11-12-2001, 08:45 PM Jim, apparentally you didn't click on the link I posted. The headsurfer himself posted he was offering "unmetered". I read a few post from you saying there was no difference between unlimited and unmetered. As a side note for others, I like Rackshack. This isn't about them, but rather seeing where Mr. Unlimband stands on his points. Afterall, when a fellow web host starts a web site designed to blacklist competitors like unlimband does, I just want to make sure his points are clear and public. ;) jimb 11-12-2001, 09:05 PM damn.....i didnt read your link to the post. Sorry man. Im gonna make a call into Rob Marsh's tomarrow and personally talk to him. I dont like this, rackshack cant end up like all these other bad hosts on unlimband thanks for pointing that out umbillycord Jim UmBillyCord 11-12-2001, 11:57 PM A man with your pull.... I am sure you can do it. Dexter 11-13-2001, 11:41 AM Originally posted by JBIZ718 I consider this offer overall a scam. Ericwenlong 11-13-2001, 12:13 PM Rackshack's deal is a steal considering they are providing you with pentium boxes and the 10 Mbps port for you to use. But my only concern is what speed you do actually get and how much you can actually use. http://forum.rackshack.net/showthread.php?threadid=926&highlight=cogent+test+speed#newpost Chicken 11-13-2001, 11:45 PM Billy, you could offer unmetered transfer on a 10Mbps connection, as there are no tricks, the line has a set physical limit. This is just a side note, I know you were talking about unlimited bandwidth on a 10MBps connection which just doesn't make sense (for a host to offer it) as quite obviously you can't get unlimted bandwidth from a certain speed line. |
