I just did a quick search on Tera-Byte here, and it seems that most of the discussion on them seems to be focused on their virtual server or colocation services. However, I'm interested in signing up for their Unix dedicated server package (click here (http://tera-byte.com/ded.html) for more details). Has anyone used their dedicated plans before? Was it a positive experience?

Thanks for your feedback, everyone! :)

:D Well, alright then, if no one has experience with their dedicated servers, how about their network? Do they have a good connection, and could I run into any problems because they are a Canadian-based company?

Most people think, when a host is based in Canada, that their network is slow, but for me It's pretty fast. You won't even notice a difference between most American Hosts compared to Canadian.

Overall, Tera-byte.com has been great for me. (I don't have a dedicated server, just Virtual Hosting.) The support is great. Their network is very fast, and their is hardly any downtime.
Some people may think different about tera-byte than me but IMO they have been excellent. :)

I have been a customer of tera-byte for a couple of months. Network is more than excellent. 100% uptime and there is always a tech. picking up the phone immediately when you call, even at 3 am, which is extremely good for an ISP I think, because most places I've been with would let you wait for 20 minutes and then tell you that no one is available, leave a message.

You should not have any problems since they are based in Canada.. Especially if you lease the hardware.

Although, I do not have only good comments about tera-byte. They do not send bills. All I see is the charge on my credit card, and I have no more details. I don't have access to traffic statistics, and I don't know for how many hours I am billed when I need a tech. to fix my server. I have complained several times about this to them. I received no answer from their email support. I even asked someone from tera-byte in their IRC channel if it was possible to receive bill statements or traffic reports at least, he told me that he would send it "later tonight". He did not ask who I was, my client #, nothing! I never received anything.

The choice is yours, but there is so much competition in this business that I chose to go with another company for my other servers. Even if the network and tech support is perfect, I don't see why I'd go with them if somebody else can offer the same quality of service and not laugh at me when I ask to receive statements.

If I recall correctly, the server shortage was a shortage of Cobalt RaQ servers, and was indicated as such on the Tera-Byte 4WebSpace web page.

The last time I visited the web page, i did not see a mention of a shortage. Plus, I suspect you are not looking at a RaQ dedicated server, correct?
