Hi there all!

After being burnt by... umm... * muffled voice * DPN!
I'm pretty lucky that I didn't get burnt as much as some others on this board as I only had a few domains with them on standard accounts. I didn't take up their resellers account... nearly did though!
I've decided to ask on here before making my next move.

Has anybody heard of US Hosting (http://www.hosting.us.com/) ?

This host isn't listing on UnlimBand (http://www.unlimband.com) so I thought I'd ask in here.

I'm not a tight arse that expects everything for nothing, though this site offers resellers plans (which aren't as cheap as others) @ US$70mth (approx AU$140mth) and a whole list of features (which is what makes it a bit suspect going on past experiences). They talk about the usual suspect site things like unmetered and unlimited, though they have plan english there about what they feel is unpracticale. Sounds good... too good maybe???

If anyone know anything about this mob, can they please pass on their experiences (good or bad). Also some alternate suggestions if this mob is no good.

Plan:
I've got 4 domains of my own plus a couple (2) of other peoples that I need to host.
None of these sites are high bandwidth using sites, though I'm looking towards the future when I start reselling to "other" people which I don't know.

Something with a flat rate I pay for x domains that I can customise would be good... rather than a percentage of an already existing plan.

Ability to accept credit cards online (realtime).
Any suggestions on this one? ie. Who's a good place to go through, especially one who can work with someone based in Australia.

Anyway, I'm sure you all know the usual type of things that we're all after... as I said earlier, I'm not a tight arse and am willing to pay resonable dollars for a resonable service, the bottom line though is that we all have to watch our dollars these days so I'm not going to throw buckets of dollars into a crap host.

Hope you can all assist...

Cheers,
Purgator

- Good decision. The best is to use the search function on the top right to search through all the threads for opinions and comments on companies.

Has anybody heard of US Hosting ?
- The signup page ( https://www1.securesiteserver.co.uk/ushosting/signup/hosting.html ) tell you that you have to agree to the terms and conditions, but i couldn't find any link to it. If you do signup with them, ask them for the TOS first and read through all of it.

- I would suggest Revecom ( http://www.revecom.com/ ). :)

I wouldn't go with someone that offered "unlimited" no matter how attractive the offer looked.
Go with someone that clearly defines what you're purchasing.

I agree with SWR,

To me it looks like you're just jumping into another problem. And it's 62 bucks US per year? That seems a little odd. I think you should go to a place like Kiwi's MCHost, I think multipleimage also offer reseller accounts like MCHosts. They have set limits on things like bandwidth and disk space, but you can be guaranteed you will get what you paid for, quality service and nice people :p

when you say DPN, do you mean data packet networks? heh if so, good thing i read this first, i was just about to go sign up for that. heh damn, now back to the drawing board...

SOA: :D
Yeah, DPN = Data Packet Networks... there are many threads on it on the board, if you do a search on DPN, or DPN & Fraud.

Everyone:
I've been looking around at the other plans, though I can only find reseller hosting with about 8GB of transfer for about $35 a month. This in itself is probably enough, but people (potential customers) will want to see about 1GB a month for me to be inline with other hosts... so this gives me a grand total of 8 customers for $35 a month. Hmm... doesn't look that attractive.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

hey purgator..i checked out that US hosting place..doesnt look too bad, I mean they clearly state unlimited but they say what is acceptable and what isnt, and it isnt on that unlimited bandwidth awareness site, heh looks pretty good, but then again most people do say to stay away from the evils of unlimited, heh but what the hey right? heh give it a try if ya want..if ya do, lemme know if its good or not, because im tempted to try it as well!

I'd give it a try no worries but for a few factors.
I don't have the $$$'s to burn.
I won't let emotions (ie. temptation) get me on this one as I'm trying to build a biz where I won't have to move my customers domains around the place all the time.

Other than the above... it does look good. Though, I'm only new to this board (well I've read a few posts... though haven't posted many) and maybe there's plenty that can learnt from the judgments of others that have been here longer.

Cheers for the replies though everyone... they're helping me paint the picture.

There are thousands of hosts making "unlimited" claims; the only ones listed there are the ones the site's operator knows about and has gotten around to listening. The fact that a particular host isn't listed doesn't mean they are any different from the ones that are.

I mean that as a general comment; I don't know anything about US Hosting, I have no connection with unlimband.com, and am not even convinced that the site is a Good Thing.
