U see I am runing Redhat 8, clamav, qmail, and squirrelmail prob is httpd connections sometimes increase to say 40 etc, my smtpd will hang, when we limit httpd to say 20, this prob is solved, but need to restart httpd quite a number of times to start squirrelmail. Anyone knows why and any solutions? Been thinking of ages how to describe this prob. Hope I make myself cliear.....

You are using qmail with vpopmail or vmailmgr? Have you tweak the courier-imap configuration and also apache KeepAlive to Off? Just throw in a few questions for you to crack mind :stickout

Qmail with VPOPmail, have tried the courier-imap, apache keepalive off? Will it affect the squarellmail?

Show us your qmail and smtpd run files and your current setting for apache configuration if possible ;) Have you patch qmail with any patches?
