I'm thinking of doing colocation with tera-byte.com (plan b), however it doesn't say anywhere $2.50 US or Canadian? Since they are in canada they still put the prices in US dollars?

Also can anyone tell me any reviews about them? Any problems? How is the bandwidth? Do they try to rip you off on how much bandwidth you use?

Thx,

- Vadim

From http://tera-byte.com/hosting.html
All prices are in US dollars.
There is a $5US/GB charge on any account that goes over the allotted "Transfer/month" limit.
The accounts that include database support come with one database only (either MySQL or Access), but they can have unlimited tables.

I guess it's in US$.

What I have noticed about most Canadian/Canadian companies is that when they want to charge they want to charge in US Dollars and when they want pay they want to pay in Canadian Dollars. Just last week my bank sent me a copy of a check paid in Canadian dollars. I had one advertiser renogitate all ad payments in Candian Dollars and his argument was that their company is Canadian and so they should be priced accordingly. Yeah! that is why they have exchange rates (though I did not tell him that).

Umm, as in a dollar for dollar thing? (ie $1CD = $1US). That's just a bit of a go at getting a cheap deal I think :)

They've always charged me in USD.

With their 4webspace division at least, they list prices in USD but actually charge in Canadian dollars. The charge on my credit card always shows up as being charged in Canadian dollars. Actually it always seems to come out about 2 or 3 dollars more than it's supposed to. Could be the credit card isn't giving me the same exchange rate that 4ws is using.

Your credit card company may be adding a transaction fee for currency conversion. Mine does.

They say US$ right on their opening page.

They probably charge the credit card in USD. It is then the CC company that does the conversion for your statement since you are a Canadian customer. And the rate they use is never the official one, just like the banks.

Another reason for a company serving an international customer base (most of which is probably in the US) is to make it easier to compare prices.

Also avoids the inevitable "What do they mean $80/month?! It's only $50 elsewhere" when $80CA is approx $50 US.

On your CC bill, I believe it appears as CAD.

$1 US = ~$1.59 CA
$1 CA = ~$0.62 US

$2.50 US = ~ $4.00 CA
