Hello all,

Have any of you host using Windows 2003? What software do I need for enterprise edition and for web edition? do you setup cluster also?

Please give me some advice.

Thanks

The web edition is just too limited, you should go with standard or enterprise (or maybe datacenter edition), the enterprise edition has more features packed than the standard version.

About clustering I don't know, I do only cluster on *nix.

what unix os are you using?
does cluster come with that os? or did you buy extra?

Right now I have both enterprise and web edition. But I am not sure that I will stay with windows or not. I might use sun solaris or redhat.

From what I know Windows 2003 Enterprise comes with clustering. Web and standard do not have.

It is my recollection that clustering requires specialized hardware to do on Windows, I am not sure about the hardware reqs for Unix based clustering.

I dont think that is the case anymore. I have not used the clustering features of win2k3 but I know people who have without special hardware.

BTW Winodws 2003 is great server software, many improvements on 2000 and very reliable.

Kind Regards
