View Full Version : What's the most spam you ever recieved after going days without checking your emails?
HostQuest 04-07-2004, 01:09 AM Me, well after two days I recieved over 40 in my Yahoo email account. I use to just recieve just a few spam emails a day, but now I get a flood of spam since I disabled my filters because it was blocking personal emails.
What's the most spam you ever recieved?
VinaGal 04-07-2004, 01:15 AM only 40 in 2 days ??
if i don't check my email in 2 days ...... hmm i'd say ...at least 400+ spam emails!
boonchuan 04-07-2004, 01:44 AM U r lucky I receive about 600 a day : (
DeltaAnime 04-07-2004, 01:46 AM hehe, I probably get 100+ a day, but spam assassin and outlook junk folders keep it so i see maybe 4.
I got rid of my old domain that used to just harvest spam like anything. That domain alone, would get me around ~60, heh'

Dan Grossman 04-07-2004, 01:50 AM Easy check... I moved websitegoodies.com to my current host in October, 6 months ago. I only set up mailboxes for actual addresses I use and have used in the past. Everything else goes to the catchall that never gets read.
6 months and number of mails to nonexistant addresses on the domain (all auto-generated address spam): 28,059
Nowhere near the amount of spam I get to the actual mailboxes. You'd expect it after 6-7 years of publically using it as my primary mail address. OE uses something over 10 gigs for some time in 2003 to present.
Artashes 04-09-2004, 11:16 PM A little over 20,000 for 2 days.
digitok 04-10-2004, 12:04 AM Wtf? Why do you get 20k for 2 days?
rockergrrl 04-10-2004, 12:56 AM I get well over 500 a day in spam....
But I have 20 emails that I check everytime I open up Outlook.
And that's not including my hotmail/msn addresses - I get roughtly 50 everytime I check it (every 2 days or so)
Hostex Australia 04-10-2004, 01:02 AM lol, I haven't recieved one peice of spam in about a year, envy me
Kerry Jones 04-10-2004, 02:07 AM Well, my friend has an email account I check on the domain "gamepalz" and just in 3 months it had 10,000 spam emails. Does the Can-Spam act apply in Texas :)?
CactusCounty 04-10-2004, 12:00 PM One of my domains nets me between 1900 and 2400 spam mails a day in the catchall account.
Toggle all. Delete.
Others aren't quite so bad, ranging from just a few to a couple hundred a day.
Rich2k 04-10-2004, 01:09 PM I get around 500 a day across various accounts. My main business account has now started getting on the spam lists which is really beginning to affect business now... I can't understand the mentality of spammers.
Luckily if I'm on my PC (rather than checking remotely on my laptop), using a combination of Norton Anti-Spam and Outlook 2003's inbuilt spam filter, I rarely see them in my INBOX... the problem is that I check email a lot remotely when I'm not at my desk.
nickn 04-10-2004, 01:38 PM I received 22,000 or so in about 2 days on my spam@ account, but that was coming off of a mailscanner box that was forwarding all spam to a imap box for statistics purposes.
As far as my personal boxes...no spam..thanks to the standalone server I setup to block spam before it even hits the cPanel servers :D
Hostex Australia 04-11-2004, 12:35 AM geez I didn't realize how much SPAM you guys got!
Dan Grossman 04-11-2004, 12:43 AM AOL filters over 2 billion messages per day from ever reaching its customers' mailboxes.
Artashes 04-11-2004, 12:45 AM At least some use out of AOL...
CactusCounty 04-11-2004, 09:10 AM Yeah, unfortunately some of those filtered out are legitimate emails.
Vortex-Steve 04-11-2004, 09:51 AM Not as bad as the others. My hosting email addresses get maybe 1 or 2 a day. My vortexinternet.com account seems to of been picked up by a few more people and I get several hundred a day.
indeks 04-11-2004, 11:07 AM I went a month without checking a free email account (Yahoo) and I know I had well over 1000 emails in my inbox. I closed the account and made a new one, except this time being more wary of where I give my email address. Mind you, that was 2 years back, I was fairly new to the internet.
sasha 04-11-2004, 11:30 AM Used to get few hundereds per day, now with combination of spamassasin and nice email client I get less then 20 per day.
flamesburn 04-11-2004, 01:20 PM What kind of programs are you guys using to filter spam? Other than spamassasin? anything like mail washer or the likes?
I received about 50 a day on barrysworld account. That's the fun part when you are registered in some gaming community and your opponent can't bare the fact that they lost a clanwar vs you. This 50 a day was with the game.net spamfilter on full alert. After installing my own filter on top of it i only received 4 a day.. still 2 mutch, so i switched accounts to another freemail provider.
Donnie-D 04-11-2004, 02:14 PM 5976 in 1 week
akashik 04-11-2004, 03:34 PM Used to get about 50 a day, but Spam Assassin has culled that down to 10 a week or so (a little over one a day).
The Conqueror 04-11-2004, 03:38 PM 1500 after a week....
martin1981 04-11-2004, 11:56 PM holy crap...and i thought 15 was alot for 1 day.
lol
iTec Hosts 04-12-2004, 12:12 AM I had about 1170 after a month. And a hotmail account I could not tell you as I had not logged in for 30 days and it was put on hibernation. That account I used to get upto 30 Spam a day. Since it was closed and since reopened, that has dropped to 5 a day
Bashar 04-12-2004, 07:26 AM well maybe around 10K since *@all-domains-i-have.xxx is forwarded to my mailbox lol
but that was in old days i removed it and went down to 500 heh
HostQuest 04-12-2004, 07:40 AM I just went up to 40 a day.
