I have a dedicated server with many sites on it, i use WHM/Cpanel,

i can handle all support for my clients ... 1 thing i failed to repeair .. the email problems.


my question is .. if a customer ask me to see why he cant send or recive emails .. what the steps i do to check the problem?

i usually do the following .. but not always find the problem

1. check if the domain actually point to the server
2. check the MX record for domain
3. check if the email account is created and check if the password is valid
4. use email trouble shooter in WHM.

if everything above looks fine .. what i can do more ?

Things you need to know from them:
- Ask if they are receiving any errors
- Ask if they are using an email client or Webmail

Things you need to check:
- Set up and check the address yourself with an email client and/or Webmail
- Check the logs for errors
- Check for *.lock* files in the user's mail directory
- Make sure they are not out of diskspace or the inbox is full

These are some other things to check....There are more checks, but I've got my own work to do :)
