Anybody know of a script that would be good for a resturant, so people could order online, and then the people at the resturant view orders as they come in. Anything close to this?

I guess i could use oscommerce or something like that, but thats to complecated.

PHP is prefered!

Thanks,]
Jason

We did something like this a long time ago for a restaurant back when netfx-2000.net was working. That would be the next question - do the people have access to the internet @ work or did you need to fax it to them?

hmmmmm....well, i dont really have a resturant asking me to make them one, i was just thinking about making some sites for a few local pizza joints.

Do you think most places would have a fax or internet or both.
Most places i dont think would have the regular computers, just the ones for cash registers.
Fax would seem to be the way to go now that i think of it.

Faxaway.com is pretty cheap, 1 buck a month.

So know any good php scripts for this?

Well all it is is basically a shopping cart. I would think that osCommerce would be the best way to go.

Most places would not really have internet access I doubt. And if they did - they probably would not want their employees on it. (I know I wouldn't :) )

Does the restaurant need to collect the money online?

Why not just have a web based version of a carry-out service.

Customer logs onto site >> Customer picks food items >> Customer submits order >> cook prepares food >> customer pays at restaurant >> customer takes food.

Why not something like that? That's be REALLY easy with php and mysql.

Hi,

I don't think a classic shopping cart would be the best. There are certain things with pizzas, like stuff you add to a pizza. Classic shopping carts can collect items, but usually don't know how to group them. A pizza order can contain a pizza plus some dressing and other stuff. It could as well contain several pizzas with each one of them having things added on.

What good would it be, if you got an order, four times pizza "Napoli", twice pizza "Roma", one "Venezia", twice extra tomato, once extra cheese and once extra oregano? What would you put where? Clearly a classic shopping cart would prove insufficient.

Nevertheless, it's an easy job, pretty basic scripting, a bit tougher, if you care about security, but still under $1k job. Good luck.

You can use easily use a loaded version of osCommerce and have the extra ingredients as checkboxes (attributes of the product).

Yeah i was thinking about doing the whole checkbox thing, and maybe a info box where the user can type in special requests.

I dont think i could convince a new pizza joint to fork up 1k so people can order online.

Looks like o.s.c is the way to go.

.......Now i just need to find a client :D

Jason,

Stress the following features.

1.) You can save your order history so you can reorder the same items if they want. Good for client of pizzaria or ANY take away joint.

2.) pizzaria can distribute discount coupons to valuable clients via email. Save on print media and keep track of most profitable clients. Right now I do not think they keep track of valuable clients.

3.) The shopping cart can email to their pager so they do not have to read their refresh their email until they need to.

got some more ideas if interested... but afraid I will bore too many people

I would be interested in hearing back from sadcox66, but it says your account was dissabled, if you can reply, please do!

I would also like to know if you knew what "namarie" meant when you said it?
It means farewell in J.R.R. Tolkiens Elvish...but i dont want to bore all the rest, lol.

Thanks,
Jason
