Netmillion 11-09-2001, 01:12 AM Ok guys. This is really getting to me. Within the next 3 weeks, I will be starting a hosting company. I already bought both a Linux and a Windows Server, Got the name, Tax ID, etc...
What I need now is a control panel. I CANNOT find a control panel that will work on a Windows OS! I REALLY NEED ONE!

Can someone please help? Everywhere I look It's linux.... Where can I find a nice Windows OS Control Panel!??!?!?!?!?
jrobert 11-09-2001, 11:25 AM Take a look at Psoft- http://www.psoft.net
Their control panel works with linux, BSD and Windows Platforms. We have been using it now for a while, and are happy with the support and other assistance.
Netmillion 11-09-2001, 07:45 PM Ok. Those guys over at plesk don't speak english. . They keep replying saying "Here's the admin account".
What I want to see, is the users account. I want it, so that my users can login. Change pw's, Permissions, file trans, etc etc. I LOVE CPanel's and there distrib panels. And would love to use them. But they only provide for linux? ....That sucks hard.
Well blah? I am still in need for a control panel. Do you know where I can login as the USER, and not the ADMIN when I use plesk? Can you provide a demo act?
RackMy.com 11-18-2001, 01:00 AM There is Ensim, but you need the $5,000 control server in order to use it with W2K.
bitserve 11-18-2001, 06:06 AM Netmillion, from:
http://www.plesk.com/html/products/psa/demo.htm
"System Administrator has two points of entry. You can either log into the system as an administrator or as a user.
To log in as an administrator, you need a login name and a password. Use the following:
LOGIN NAME: admin
PASSWORD: plesk
To log in as user, you must first log in as an administrator (as outlined above) and create a user. To create a user, click on CLIENT. Enter PLESK as both the user login and password. After you create a user and set up a hosting account, click on LOGOUT. Now, you are ready to log in as an end user. Have fun!"

MikeAch 11-21-2001, 08:35 PM Ensim is supposed to release their stand alone Windows control panel in December, at least that's the latest date their rep gave me.
Regards,
Mike
RackMy.com 11-21-2001, 09:54 PM http://www.hostingcontroller.com GREAT PRODUCT! :)

Control server do you mean serverXchange.
dbarker 11-25-2001, 05:19 AM Is hosting controller that bad? I was going to buy it for use on my new co-lo server ( I am moving from a reseller with FastHosts ). I had a look at H-Sphere but it seemed slow and hard to get to grips with compared to hosting controller.

fazloo 11-26-2001, 04:21 PM Hosting Controller (http://hostingcontroller.com) is the best available win2k/NT control panel I ever seen... The product is great, support is excellent and price is unbeleivable .. We are very happy with them .. :) :) :)
dbarker 11-26-2001, 06:12 PM Thanks Fazloo,
I'll probably get Hosting Controller and Merak Mail then.
David
MikeAch 11-28-2001, 10:56 PM Once you get it and get it all installed could you come back and let us know how it's going for you? I'd be interested, we've been waiting on Ensim to release their stand-alone Win CP forever, but it's getting old.
Thanks,
Mike Achenbach
dbarker 11-29-2001, 03:18 AM Mike,
Sure, that's no problem. I'll tell you how it all installed/performed.

Vortech 11-29-2001, 05:55 PM You have to be kidding..
HostingController SUCKS... BUG AFTER BUG.... If you call good support never fixing a bug or telling users a new ver will be out one month and that month comes and goes then says no next month that month comes and goes then says no we mean some time next year.. They are a joke..
We do use there control panel on 1 server and nothing but problem after problem in it.. Best thing to do is do them by hand and get a good Mail program like Imail life will be much much better..
fazloo 12-01-2001, 03:55 PM But HC works great for us :D .. HC drove us nuts  at the beginning almost year ago, but now it rocks ..  .. Let's see what buddy David comes up with :) :)
MikeAch 12-04-2001, 12:32 PM Hi David,
How's the HC install going? Ensim is supposed to come out with their stand alone Windows CP this month and I'm trying to decide which to use, HC or Ensim.
Thanks,
Mike
jvlemire 12-08-2001, 08:00 AM I'm also looking for a Windows based CP and am having trouble finding any type of solution for a Windows platform.
I've been working with Hosting Controller now for about 4 days. It's got a lot of potential but it's still pretty buggy. The price is awsome at $500 per server but it does need some work.
If your're an ASP developer, you would be in like flint. My problem is that I'm a ColdFusion developer and the asp stuff is a little cryptic for me. If it was in CF, I would be able to tweak it to perfection.
What I'm getting at is this thing is not plug and play. For $500 bucks, you've got something pretty good to work with if your're an .asp developer. Heck...team up with the Hosting Controller guys and build a "user interface" for the damn thing...lord knows it needs a face lift. HumanKindSystems.com did this for IMail. Super nice templates for the IMail webmail....and they are making a killing.
I forgot to mention that it's open source.
Ive been keeping an eye on the Hosting Controller forums and am finding that there are those that are waiting for version 1.5 or even 2.0 to come out before they start tweaking it. I might wait till then.
If anybody has a decent, customizable and affordable control panel for windows...I'm all ears.
Thanks
MikeAch 12-08-2001, 11:08 AM We got a call from a rep at Ensim Thursday, now they've pushed back the release of the stand alone windows CP until "some time the first quarter of 2002".
We had really wanted to go with their CP, but they keep pushing the release back and the rep also told me that you have no control over which domains get a CP or not. You can turn off access so they can't use it, but every single domain takes a license. That doesn't work for us, we own 35 - 40 domains ourselves, don't need a control panel for those and don't want to pay hundreds of dollars for licenses that will never be used. It should only use a license if you want to issue a control panel to that domain, not force you to use one!
So for us it looks like Ensim, while seeming like a great CP, won't work. Back to the drawing board....
Regards,
Mike
dbarker 12-08-2001, 07:35 PM Hi,
Sorry for not posting how it went sooner. The installation was really easy and went with out a problem. I haven't had much time to explore it yet but from what I've seen so far it appears to work really well.
As I'm an ASP developer I'm working on some extras for it like automated account creation when someone orders an account.
I'll post some more news once I've used and played with it a bit more.
