My domain expires in 2 days time. Is that too late to transfer it from my Dotster account to GoDaddy?

Dotster seems sooooooo expensive!

I believe it is. I think you need at least 7 days before expiration in order for you to transfer.

Ask Dotster (or better, read their terms & conditions). I have transferred domains the same day they are expiring, but I have never tried with Dotster. Every registrar has its own policies, so maybe Dotster will let you transfer your domain to GoDaddy without any problem.

Even though the transfer process could take up to 7 days, your domain will continue resolving properly.

most registrars will not allow a transfer if the domain name will expire within 7 days

Worst case scenario renew with one of their cheaper resellers.

I can't find any information on the Dotster site about how to transfer my domain to another registrar. I hate it when they hide that information.

Any kind soul able to point me to the right place on Doster so I can transfer it out?

Hi dmaven,

Which registrars are you including in your statement? I've done this two days (or even the same day) with many registrars, like eNom, Tucows, Stargate, DomainDiscover & Names4ever.

Jon12345:

You don't need to to anything at Dotster (well, maybe verify your domain status is not "locked".

You just go to GoDaddy and initiate the transfer.

Could I lose the domain if it goes past the expire date?

Those are not "most". ;) :)

By the way, when you say so, is it because you already tried or because is written in their terms & conditions?

Thanks.
