View Full Version : Who won't the prez stay off TV?

Seriously, I hate it when the president (usa) goes on tv. He interrupts all the shows I want to watch. If he has something to say, unless it is very important, for example big nuke about to kill everyone, they should record it and play it on the nightly news. Tonight I was looking forward to a new episode of WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? on ABC. But for the 2nd time, it is replaced by: useless president chatter. I'd much rather be entertained than listen to the president make vague, broad statements that we don't need to hear. "AMERICA IS STRONG" and "WE ARE ATTACKING AFGHANISTAN". Whoa - that was unexpected.

He could at least wait until whose line is over.

Yeah your selfish entertainment is more important. We should all yield to you. The prez and this country is not worth a penny. You are the most important person on the planet. We are not worthy.

If you dont like it, turn off your tv, pack up your shieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet and get outta here! There is a reason he is on TV. This country is going through historical times and trials and he needs to address the nation about the progress and situation facing americans.

Be more patriotic sucka! hehehe jk :dgrin:

I think I can figure out how we're doing without him telling me. Just a few little things I like to call the new york times, newsweek, and cnn.com. And what did I say to warrant Skeptical's post? I'd just rather have him not interrupt my programming. He bores me. And the clapping is awful - none to insane in .1 seconds. And then back. If it is not scripted, I'm shocked. This discussion sucks. I'm out. Just wanted to say i'd rather watch Ryan Stiles than George Bush

Great to see another Who's Line fan!! :)

Anywho, I understand that it is important to hear the president speak and for him to talk...but I resent it when he lies all the damn time!! So I say, put on Who's Line!!

if he actually told the truth and didn't dishonor the man who took the PA flight down, this would be a different matter

Whos busing in the idiots?

First of all what the heck is the president lying about? He hasnt lied about anything that im aware of.

Second of all just because what the president has to say isnt important to you DOES NOT mean its not important to others. How about you go to New York City and ask the survivors of those who died how important it is to know about whats going on in the war against the people who killed their loved ones.

But of course it would be a aweful shame for you to miss part of "whos line is it anyways"

And I guess you probably voted democratic in the last election and are one of the 10% of the American population who still dont' support him, right?

well least it was replaced with a viable excuse... abc has replaced one of the few good new shows on tv Alias last week for a waste of space repeat of the practice and they're doing it again this weekend to show saving private ryan.

it's sicking how they just shove their new shows around without any respect. and they wonder why they always fail!

Ok, the Alias thing just pissed me off. I hate getting my programming messed with, but I understand the need for the messages from the leader of the country to come through. The only time I've really had a problem with the station doing it was awhile back when they interupted children's cartoons to show some guy shoot his brains out live.

The president spoke last night? Really?

I was watching CBS from 8 until 10 (Survivor followed by CSI) and GW didn't intrude.

Maybe CBS decided not to show it (which would be very surprising, but considering how important Thursday is to their ratings maybe not quite that surprising.)

Hmmm...

I'll have to go over to CNN.com and find out what he said. Hope it wasn't important, because I missed it!

Um, let me see...how about his economical stimulas package? It gives tons of money to big business (airlines, etc.) but none to the people who have been layed off! He said he enacted a stimulis package to help the people! bull sh*t!

Bush also said that we and our allies will destroy terrorism. As much as he wants to think that, it's not going to happen. The only way to beat terrorism is to take away their cause. They can escape our missiles, they can still sneak into the country, they can still do whatever they want no matter how much security we add.

Bush also stated that we refuse to live in a state of denial...which he himself seems to be doing everytime he declares that terrorists hate us because of our freedoms. They may hate that, but they also hate our ocupation of their religious cities, our stupid sanctions against Iraq, and other stupid US stuff

There is more, but i won't get into it

I was joking about my comment about Who's Line and I should have made that more clear. I think it is good to hear our president talk, I just wish he told the truth.

Your right, I support the democratic platform. I do recognize that Bush is the president but I won't debate the election with you. So, it sounds like just because our country is in a national crisis we should all blindly follow our president and not question stuff thats happening? If that is what people want to do, good for them. I, however, am still going to look at what's happening and not blindly follow the blind person infront of me.

get the digital tv thing to record your shows ;)
(trying to make a stupid joke)
anyway yeah it can bug me to but oh well if you get upset at a TV you need to get a grip on reality try to ditch your TV for a month dont ever watch it or say only 2 hours per week and then record the shows you want to watch.
I have lived without a tv for a few years of my life and it was great ;)

story:
funny though as that war on Somalia thign that happened a while back (years) we never knew about ??
one day on the boat ( a sailboat I worked on) a guy asked us about it the cap and I looked at eachoter and said what ???
the guy was outraged we had no clue
he asked us how we know what is going on we said we dont
he asked well what if a nuclear war happened
we said well we would ask our trip if they want to go to tahiti with us ;)
he asked how we know the weather incase a storm is coming ???
we said we watch the clouds the currents the wind and the birds
he tried to tell us that was not accurate
we laughed and said well more accurate then your news men

but he bugged us in a nice way the whole trip about how we could live like this
after we said well you came and are paying almost a $1000 a night to live and get away on this private island
and we live here year around and get paid for it ;)
so who is the smarter of the two ????
heheheh
he was a funny guy
never forget him ;)
so we invited him down to dinner on the beach local style
we went out and poked some fish and lobster and our wild trees here are Kiawe (mesquite) so we had a big old lobster and fish dinner.
he said it was the best dinner he has had better then the fancy restaraunt at the hotel.
by the end of the night he understood where we came form ;)

anyway spent two years not having a radio tv computer or anything (had a cd player for my reggae ;) was soem of the best years of my life so dont let a few speeches get your panites in a bunch ;)

We should make a poll...

What do you prefer to see on TV?

Being informed about possible nuclear or biological terrorist attacks.
Your favorite show while terrorists blow up the building next door and send you a postcard infected with anthrax.

When he comes on, I switch channels, if I'm in the middle of a show I get ticked off. I watch the first few times he was on, but found it was almost all repetition, I started to feel as though by going on tv he was trying to score brownie points and nothing else. To keep informed, I'll read CNN or watch the news as it seems to be much more informative than anything he may have to say. There's my two cents for what it's worth. Maybe if I actually lived in the US I'd feel differently.

That is different. Bush didn't give us any information...he just attempted to reassure the US population (i'm sure he was able to reassure many, good for him!) If he wasn't lying and actually giving us information, I would want to see him.

And Bill Clinton did better? The Hildabeast got booed off the stage at the concert in New York a couple of weeks ago. Any explanation for that?

The government collects a lot of taxes from companies. What's wrong with giving them some money back. (whoops, you were against the tax cut that was signed a while back, sorry). You know why the lower income people didn't get a tax break? They don't pay taxes!

George Bush speaking is music to my ears. Bill Clinton REALLY made me sick. Do you trust him with the military control of this country? Do you trust him with your daughter?

Before September 11, George Bush's only prime-time address was in July(?) about stem cell research. Go figure.

I'm in Canada so I didn't vote, but I will put in my opinion nonetheless ;)

I think GW's advisors know what they are doing, but you couldn't pay me to vote for someone as [plain] stupid as GW based solely on his competence (Without his smart staff).

Well, In Denmark we loved Clinton. So what he cheated on his wife. It's wrong, no doubt about it! But we all have skeletons in the closet (not me of course :) ) and I think it's his own business whether or not he had an affair. What a joke!

We loved Clinton because he had personality. He was HUMAN - because he was ordinary - like you and me!
He was charming, knew how to speak with his OWN words and in a manner people in europe like, and not some bull.... about posters of most wanted in the west, smoke them out of their holes and other weird statesments.

Gerge Bush speaking is NOT music to my ears. When you hear Bush on CNN it's alright as long as he's reading the script, but when it comes to questions from the press, he blocks! He has nothing to say.

When he's 'on' he is so tense, so stiff. Clinton seemed to cope with his role as the president of the United States much better. He was the president alright, he played the role well, because he really believed in himself. When Bush appears on CNN, he thinks too much about how he walks and talks insted of just being himself.

Well, I guess it's not the best time to talk bad about Bush after the 11th attack, but please don't misunderstand me. It was terrible what happened, and I support the battle of finding the responsible, I just think Bush is doing it the wrong way.

George Bush has had a DUI in his life. During the election, Al Gore used this to slam him down. Not too long after this, Jesse Jackson admits he had been cheating with his wife. George Bush's credability is critisized for what he did. Jesse Jackson's followers just say "Let's move on."

What's legal or not is just as important as what's right or wrong. And right now there is a large gray area where morals don't matter. I'd like to use the animal rights activists as an example. They wear leather shoes. They eat meat. Why are they complaining? They were concerned about oil pipeline drilling in Alaska a while back and that it might hurt the caribou population. They drill the pipeline. The caribou are attracted to the radient ground warmth of the pipeline below them, and the popuation jumps from around 4,000 to over 20,000. Any explanation?

The Brady Campaign, previously known as Handgun Control, Inc., has laid off 20% of its workforce since September 11. I guess they'd better keep their mouth shut unless they want outlaw knives and people with fists and feet. How about rope, or cars?

I'll shut up now. You've heard my point. Thanks for listening.

I've been a little suprised with Dubya since all this started. Granted the speech makes the man but he does sound convincing enough to my mind... he's better then I thought he was going to be.

His term in office was just going to be one of those cases of filling the job between Presidents, but he's actually looking like a leader of a nation rather than a hick with a big gun.

Let's not play the "he's from Texas...therefore he's a hick" card. =)

I live in Texas. :-)

BTW, every president has his flaws, weaknesses, etc, but Bush is showing to be a great leader of a proud nation!

I agree about Clinton...if he cheats on his wife while in office, what won't he cheat at?

Anyhow...my 2 cents.

Actually I thought he was a hick, cause he *acted* like a hick, regardless of where he came from. The recent events seems to have made him very aware of the wider world, and so far he looks to be meeting the challenge and growing into the role as a world leader fast. I'm quite sure his father's been giving him a pep talk or two since he was there for Desert Storm..
