KBs erik 11-08-2001, 10:29 PM I don't think there is a way to check this 100%. But try to download a large file from Sunsite or some other FTP site with a lot of bandwith. I think 250-300 kB would be a good transfer rate (2-2,5 Mbits). teck 11-08-2001, 10:32 PM ftp.uu.net ftp.newaol.com Other sites such as sunsite (and mirrors), kernel.org.. Again, this is just a good way to see how fast your server can burst while downloading. I would say anything over 500 KB/sec is decent. I have boxes where it would burst to about 50 megabits (awesome). jolly 11-10-2001, 03:19 AM How can I check the ftp rate of server. In India bandwith is a big problem. Can I check out from anywebsite or is there any tool to test from browser. Like we test the response time of one IP from diff countries from visualroute. Please let me know. Synergy 11-10-2001, 01:49 PM Well what you can do is download a 1000MB file or download linux using your server to download it wget http://url.to/linux.zip and at the end it shows you how long it took to download a 600 MB file.... When i was moving a site, i used the server to download a 800 MB Tar file and it took 23 Seconds (or 32 i fergot). TheRealDeal 11-11-2001, 06:59 AM Ok, my server at RACKSHACK: (wget from 2 servers I own - 1 from dialtone.com and tera-byte.com) ETA: 3:14 13.35/ 21.14 MB 41.96 kB/s This is my transfer rate for 3 days now. What do you think about this speed? They give 300 gig with this speed!! Ericwenlong 11-11-2001, 08:26 AM TheRealdeal Is that on cogent?
