I just got a HP Procurve 2524 after many people on these boards sugested them. Now my question is how do I setup mrtg or similar graphs off of the switch? Does anything needed to be changed on the switch so the snmp can be pulled etc...

The HP 2524s are very easy to configure with MRTG. Just download the latest version from mtrg.org, follow the directions and that's about it. I believe the HP is ready to go out of the box.
