General question about domains.

What would happen to someone if they changed the details of someones domain without asking?. I mean the contact for admin/technical/zone. As somebody changed my friends settings. i didnt realise until today when she asked me to make a change on her nameservers.

I was down on her domain as technical and admin contact. But a certain person from BENWELL-NET called David Benwell had changed all these details to his own.

i have now changed them all back to the way it should be. What can my friend do about this?. She doesnt want this to happen again.

contact the registrar. i guess it was bad security.

we've already contacted joker.com about it. But she wants to know if she can take any legal action etc etc.

Id be curious as to how it happened. Is this Benwell character one of the contacts or associated in any way with the domain? I'd be sure to alert the registrar. They might have a weakness in their system that allows unauthorized changes.

I doubt anything could be done legally. After all, you caught the problem and no harm was done. The main thing is to make sure that it can't happen again so no harm can be done.

Nope Benwell-net had nothing todo with the domain nor her hosting.

Im still puzzled to why he did it.
