hehe.. yup, i'm going to order a new box over the next few days. i'm doing some reading on here.. weighing out servermatrix vs. managed.com.
from what i can tell on here, managed.com is cheaper and has better packages... and servermatrix has better support.
now, what if i go with the bigger, cheaper managed.com and get some server management through acunett or elsewhere?
you'll probably think i've been drinking, but i've never really had any problems with CIHost. i've had a server with them for 3 years with VERY few problems over the past year and a half. my server is never down and rarely lags. i've had good support experience. heck... they even give support to my clients most of the time.
my only problems with them are:
1. for such a big "state of the art" company, they are about 2 or more years behind the times in terms of software and hardware. (most of their free scripts have 1996 - 1998 copyrights)
2. no subdomains with name-based hosting.
3. no plesk, cpanel or ensim.
for me, those 3 issues are now bigger than the good as my hosting company grows. not having a good control panel is a real pain in the arse for hosting.
anyway.. i'm enjoying these forums and getting "the scoop" on lots of shiznit.
