Beginning two days after I transferred my domain to Valueweb, I have been getting nearly constant disconnect errors due to heavy traffic on their shared email server(s). Valueweb claimed their servers would be upgraded with the month...that was three months ago, and the problem has only gotten worse.
Is "we're upgrading our servers" just the company line? In all fairness, uptime is good, but email is completely unreliable. Any suggestions????
Thanks

I agree with vSector -- change hosts, this has been going on for too long.
While most shared hosts will have problems from time to time, the real test is how quickly problems are resolved. "Months" does not seem to be an acceptable time to wait, IMHO.

ValueWeb mail has always been terrible. I have one site with them, only because it doesn't need email. Email forwards at times can take 2-3 hours to reach the forwarding destination and, as mentioned, POP is unreliable.
Uptime and support are good, so I don't understand why mail is so bad. One thing that has puzzled me is...
(From Mail Config Help)
The POP account is physically located on the ValueWeb server and must be given a name that is unique among the thousands of POP accounts that reside on that server. If you choose a name that already in use, the server will prompt you to select another name.
Every POP Account requires a Forward and since you want your e-mail address to be chosen-name@yourdomain, don’t be too concerned about the actual POP Account name. No one will see it. It only shows up in your e-mail client software as Account Name or User Name. Don’t waste time trying to come up with a POP Account name that is similar to the name you want for your forward. Instead, choose something simple, like an abbreviation of your domain name and add a number for each successive POP Account – for example techtalk1, techtalk2, etc.
Can anyone explain this? I have other domains with several other hosts and ValueWeb is the only one that makes this requirement for POP accounts??????
My first post! I been lurking and learning for a couple of months. This forum is a great resource.
