Just saw these pages( http://www.hardocp.com/reviews/vidcards/ati/8500/quack/, http://www.tech-report.com/etc/2001q4/radeon-q3/index.x?pg=1 ) radeon 8500 has been specially "optimized" to lower the texture quality in quake iii and optimize its fps.. this doesnt really relate to web hosting but i hate people who follow these kind of business tactics.. good thing i didnt buy this.
No wonder all sites have been showing radeon 8500 produced better results than GeForce 3
:uzi: ATI :flamethr: Radeon 8500

ATI has good products but I've had more trouble with their video cards than any other (and tech support isn't helpful -- remember calling their not 1-800 number and talked for 1hr [daytime rates] with some level one tech who best off bagging groceries <-- I was telling HIM want to do!!). After that experience I'll never buy an ATI card again.
Stick with Asus/Diamond/Hercules-Guillemot.

Gimme anything by Elsa any day of the week.
What ATI have done just smacks of cheating the benchmarks, Quake 3 is not the most popular game by far, so if they were doing it for games players then they would have picked a different game to optimise, but instead they picked one that is used in nearly every single benchmark out there.
