I have just been setup on a dedicated linux server account. I have been running web sites on NT and Windows 2000 for about 3 years and have made the move to Linux for stability/performance reasons. I have very limited knowledge of web administration on linux. I am hoping that I can get some recommendations for a good book or online resource?

Specifically I need help with setting up SSL for e-commerce, seting up e-mail, and DNS.

I would also say you could install a "control panel" (plenty out there) to give you a GUI to do most of what you mentioned..

I think the first thing you should do is lock it down, security wise, by shutting down unneeded services, installing SSH (if it's not installed), and upgrading BIND and your FTPd.

What distro/version of Linux is installed?

I am hosted at Dialtone.com and they have a customized distribution of Linux 6.2 that they claim has had many of the unneeded services shutdown. They have a server interface that does much of what I want to do but I would like to understand what I am doing. It would be great if there was a book/online resource written about linux from a web master's perspective?
