I have Purchase my own domain name with a company that is currently parking it for now..

On the other hand i would like to be master of my own domain.
etc. (running the webserver, running the DNS server, running the email server....)

What would be the first steps to get started.. Resolving my ip with the domain? Register my DNS?

can someone give me a hand, please and thank U.

Well, it sounds like an aweful lot, if you just have a domain. You'd basically need to either run a dedicated server or VPS (Virtual Private Server), and this would run you over $50 just to get going. Not sure what the point would be.

What are your actual needs? I get the feeling you are either a bit confused, or you just want to control every aspect of everything (or think you do), though I'm not sure why. Some things, such as DNS, could be handled by your registrar, or a free service such as http://www.mydomain.com . Email can be partially controlled from there as well, but I really don't understand what your ultimate goal is, and why.

"So did you make it through the night?"

"Yes I'm proud to say I did."

"So you're still master of your domain?"

"Yes. Yes I am. Master of my domain."Sorry I couldn't resist. I'm sure somebody here will get it. :D

I see, that helped a great deal. Does your connection include a dedicated IP, can you stay connected? If this is at school (college), for the sake of your other fellow students, don't suck up the whole uni line :D Moving to dedicated forum...

here's the deal..
I have a dedicated linux machine at home, , setup as a name server.. with a static ip address.

I can resolve the domain name to my ip address from another computer , if i asign the ip address of the DNS server to the other machine.

How can i get it setup, so that anyone in the world will be able to visit my site through the domain name. (and have my name server resolve the domain)

I register my DNS server with Internic (think I done it right).

Thanks
