I'm the lead webmaster for a gaming website and we were going to get hosting donated to us because of the **** service we've been getting from creative web ideas (cwi) our current host.

I can live with shared hosting until the site gets more popular, but it will need:

Unix based
500MB storage
15+GB/mo transfer
PHP4
CGI
mySQL
static ip
sub-domains
control panel
reasonable amount of pop accounts
$40 or under cost wise (aprox)

Anybody know of any GOOD webhosts that are close to this?

Cheap dedicated hosting could be a possibility too if it's under $120/mo...but some of the plans i've seen like that, require you to buy mySQL and PHP and other **** like that...whuts the deal?

WHY ARE THERE SO MANY **** HOSTS OUT THERE?!?!?!?!? :(

Thanx in advance

I hope this is monthly?

There is no reason to charge for php/mysql since they are available for free to download/install. The hosts may do installation charge, but no more ... Even that, there are many resources on the internet that will give you some guidances on how to install these softwares ...

cheers,

Hi,
If you are currently using around 15gig of monthly bandwidth, it may be time to start looking for a dedicated box.
Like dektong said, PHP and MySQL are included in most plans at most hosts and you probably will not have to purchase these separately.

Good Luck in your search!

We're not using 15gb/month right now, proboably around 2 at the most. It would be nice too have the room to grow and not have to worry about going over and rackign up a huge bill.

We have basically the same needs. 200-300 MB Filespace, 40-50 GB Data Transfer, mulitple domains, PHP, Red Hat Linux, and Apache.

Here is one that I have found. Does anyone know how good the service/support of these are? I mean anyone can make a good web site that looks good, but it is a totally different story to see whether they actually follow through on thier promises.

There site is not that informative about what you are getting. It does not even mention multiple domain hosing, which is a plus, but not an absolute must for us.

Does anyone know of any others. We could even use one with "unlimited bandwidth," we would just have to make sure we know what that means.

If they advertise it as unlimited . . . . . RUN
