I plan on registering about 5 names. Could someone bring me up to date on who has the best price. Would especially like to have domain forwarding/redirection included free with the purchase.

I know redirection.net provides this for $15.00 was hoping to find at $10.00 or less.

I personally prefer joker.com with the conversion rate its $11 dollars or under. I've just been using them for a while and I'm stuck on Joker :).

They work and are reliable thats all I care about :)

Price doesn't hurt either.

Thanks Ironlung! getadomain sounds good, anyone else had experience with them? Cost is $8.00 registration and $2.00 url forwarding.

Their agreement indicates they are with Alabanza, Inc. d/b/a Bulkregistrar.com (hereafter the ``Accredited Registrar''. Is their domain manager as easy to use as those with openSRS?

I have asked them the following question without reply as yet. Anyone who resells for Alabanza know what answer I should expect?

Notice in your agreement the following info

5. Transfer or Sale of the Domain Name.

If you wish to transfer or sell one or more of your Domain Names, you will be responsible to pay all other transfer costs and other fees and comply with all terms required by the Accredited Registrar under its transfer policies. As a condition to and as part of any transfer of a Domain Name, the transferee may be required to agree to the terms and
conditions of the Registrar Agreement. Getadomain shall not have any responsibility for or obligation to you, the transferee or otherwise relative to any such transfer or sale.

Does the above mean if I wish to move my name to another registrar in the future or transfer ownership from my name to another that you will levy a fee or charge for this service?
{end quote}

Can someone tell me what would happen to my domain management situation if Getadomain went under. Would it be a big hassle to transfer etc.?

I doubt you'd have to pay fess to transfer the name out pf bulk register, but there has been some discussion about Alabanza hosts and Bulk Register before. Basically, you have to go through Getadomain to do DNS changes, etc.

Search for Bulk Register and Alabanza and you should be able to find the discussions.

i like them. it is $17 each with $1 less per extra year of registration and making any changes whatsoever is super easy, great interface. i've bought 4 domains through them for both myself and clients and the rock! :)

Beware of shopping for a registrar by price alone. As with anything, including choosing a host, you should consider their policies right along with the price.

For instance, do they retain any control over your domain name (as Network Solutions does), do they charge any fees (other than the registration fee) for transferring to another registrar? Do they allow you to make changes without charge? {To change the registrant at NetSol, you have to cough up $35. At 000domains and some others, you just change the registrant in their Domain Manager control panel). How easy is it to effect changes? Do you have to go back and forth with e-mails (as with NetSol), or just make some changes in the control panel.

Unless you get the answers to these questions, and perhaps others, that sweet deal can sour really fast.

He wasn't talking about transfer from NetSol (the fees), rather the fee you paid to the new registrar. I'm not sure if any charge you to transfer FROM them or not, but I believe this is what he meant. Also, NetSol does charge a fee to change registrant info, while many do not.

Some info I found out today. redirection.net (a tera-byte.com affiliate) registers under openSRS so I would guess that there domain manager will be the same as 000domains.com which I like. I have registered a name today with redirection to get a better feel and will also try out getadomain.com which uses Bulkregister. I tried to get some info on getadomain's domain manager but nobody gave any info. With openSRS you can change the dns server yourself not sure with the Alabanza/Bulkregister.

One thing I don't like about redirection.net is it is a manual process. I entered the name at 3.30 and it still is in process. Just came through at 7.15. When I registered with 000domains.com it was instant. Within 15 minutes of my app when I did a request the name I was registering showed taken. They must use a computerized system. Manual to me is dangerous. Say I get a major brainwave (very, very rare by the way) and think of that perfect name that everyone should have seen but didn't. My request goes in and someone reads it, puts it in the 5 hr. que and then he thinks wow that is a hot name. Calls someone and says hey register this name. Do you think I would have any comeback no way. You couldn't prove anything.

Does anyone know how getadomain.com works? Is it instant registration?

If I transfer a domain from netsol to OpenSRS. There is no charge. But in order to do the transfer I have to sign up for one additional year with OpenSRS. Which is not a bad deal. What that means is if I have registered with netsol for 2years and transfer over to OpenSRS then I will now have 3 years i.e. nothing is lost during the transfer. (It is however not possible to transfer a domain name within 60days of it being registered.)

There is actually nothing netsol can do about it *unless* you are behind on a payment

I recently had a new client whose domain name was expired for six months with NetSol before we transfered it. He asked me if I we would be able to transfer the domain since it was expired. I honestly didn't know so I told him sign up, we'll give it a shot, and if it doesn't go through, we'll give you all your money back. So I requested the transfer, it went through, and extended his registration by 2 years for the price of 1. No charge from NetSol and we charged $20 for the transfer. Needless to say we were both pleased with the whole deal.
We use bulkregister as our registrar BTW.

NameBargain.com is "a wholesale domain name registration site for individuals or organizations interested in registering domain names with the goal of reselling them."

There is no way to change the DNS servers for your domain unless you "upgrade" it to Register.com (which = $35). Someone pls correct me if I am wrong?

Registered a domain this a.m. with getadomain.com but price is now $9.00 +$2.00 if url forwarding required.

Process was quick and painless. After giving my info and getting a registration successful screen (took 3 minutes from start to finish) I then did a search request on the name I wanted and it already indicated taken. (my purchase because I got an e-mail within the hour confirming my registration.

Not happy about the following though which is a copy of an e-mail which they took several days to reply to.

We currently do not have a domain management tool such as you mentioned. Outside of the edit features at http://www.getadomain.com/edit.html the editing needs to be emailed to us and we will take care of it. As far as transfering domains, we will have fees for that but they have not been decided as of yet. (I put the bold in here they did not)

looks like the low cost domains come with a price

that is except for OpenSRS. Their management interface is awesome

Buut OpenSRS is for wholesellers. You have to start with a balance of $250 ... although after that there is no minimum
