I've never used rackshack, so I can't compare the two, other than to state my experience with tera-byte. Connectiveity has been very good, no problems with support.

Was this experience good or bad? After reading about them here the other day, i plan a second server there?

Still have the RaQ4r there, overall great experience, most things running and supported well. Before leasing the 4r I colo'd my RaQ3 there. If I don't sell it, then I'll most likely throw it back up there.

I certainly have, but it was ALL over physical reboots. They claim they have/are moved to a new data center, with 24/7.

The problem before was no one actually at colo center. They now say they will have staff there for reboots 24/7.

In my experience, if someone IS there, AND you phone & insist, they will reboot while you wait on phone.

OTHER than reboots, i truly am happy at reckshack supportwise.

From what I've tested, a rackshack server bursted more than a 4WS server. When I tested a large file on a raq at 4WS, I couldn't get over 300 KB/sec. I recently tested something on a raq at RS and got just over 800 KB/sec. As far as support, i've never used RS support but 4WS support has been good.

I have customers on both places. I joined 4webspace almost a year ago and never got much complaints from clients. Peple keep saying good things until a month ago I moved some sites from 4webspace to rackshack then I started to get some complaints , major concern is the connection problem . I see slow down hop at verio and cogentco from time to time. I choose 4webspace because their connection is stable (so far).

I signed up for a Raq at rackshack on Sunday and I still can't telnet in or ftp in. They have taken my server out and opened it up and put it back and the same problem is still there. They have $380 bucks, more or less, of mine and I can go to my IP via http and see the COBALT page and I can get into the Admin area. I can set telnet on or telnet off, but no telnet. I can set ftp on or ftp off, but no ftp.

I just got off the horn with rackshack tech and we found the problem.

I had pointed the server to nameservers that I have my domains registered at and I pay to have DSN service AND the registrar's nameservers don't properly do reverse DNS. As soon as RackShack DNS was used, it works great.

Hmmm.. I'm glad they helped me get it square and the folks I talked to were real nice. I'm still glad I signed with RackShack, but I have a few ready words for my DNS deal at a certain well known registrar.

I'm going to keep rackshack dns for the time being and make sure everything works well before I set up my own nameservers.

3 points for rackshack.

I knew that rackshack suggests using their nameservers and now I know why.... :)

I'm happy again.

One thing I noticed when I was managing the servers I resold for Rackshack was getting ip addresses, terrible slow and wasteful of time.

I understand the need for a explanation (blah blah blah) but rackshack really took it to a level that I never seen before. It was like me and my customer were on trial just trying to get 8 ips, which they charge an arm and leg for (block of 4 ips $30 setup and $4 a month)

I've been at RackShack for just under a month and have been pretty happy.

The pricing seems too good to be true but from what I've seen, it is true.

The "Head" man there is very active and they probably will have some of the biggest pipes in the industry once they move to their newly acquired data center (probably this month)

It's all working real good now. After the dns fiasco it was still lethargic so I rebooted and now it seems better. I also am getting pings in the 400 range with 25% packet loss. When I signed up the pings were like 60-65 (I was really stoked over those). Anywho, still a great deal.

I am also looking forward to the big pipe. Not that the place doesn't already have a big pipe.
