Let's say I want to transfer my domain from Host A to Host B. Assuming my DNS was managed by someplace like mydomain.com and assuming I had two accounts active at both hosts for said domain for a week, would that amount to no downtime for my domain. Do I understand it correctly that the DNS servers of the world could have either IP for a few days? Some will point to the old IP, some to the new, so as long as I have both accounts during the transition, all will be well?

...although if you have a database being updated on two servers (e.g. for a forum) you might have fun synchronising things;)

set up a remote myslql on the new host (if your host permit it) so that all mysql changes will be updated on the new server ...

The only thing to be careful about is do not remove / change your old hosts files for 1 week after the NS change. Some people still wont be able to access your site (depends on when the ISP refreshes their IP database). Thats what we tell our tranferring customers at least.

yeah, the only issue would be databases.
