Hello everyone,

Has anyone here ever had a a "wannabe" host almost copy your name and pretty much steal your logo, except put a dot somewhere in the logo to "touch it up a bit?" Just wondering. This has happened to use, and it just annoys me.

Post their name, and put them in shame.

Ive had my resellers copy certain parts of my websites, however this i dont mind. :)

If someone wants to copy my website, then im not too bothered as there isnt much we can do about it and I know if they have to copy it, they probably wont be around for long. I mean if they cant understand to write out a description on the service they provide, what hope have they got of running a server. :D

I don't mean to advertise but:

Elixant
and
Exinant -- way too close, and everything.

The only thing close about them is their names and the fact that they both appear to be using templates, which BTW, aren't too similar.

No one should do this.

I find 80% of those web host sites look template-like.
And sometime ripping of one anothers.... you can't really tell it

i agree that they look different and have different sections. I would not consider this a copy even though the names are the similar.

Look at the logo(s). They look mighty similiar to me. He only started "Exinant" was because I was a "former" friend that he got mad at. Funny thing is, exilant isn't even my company..hah.

Although this is a bit late:

I am aware that our names are similiar, but we did not use their name to spawn off a name of our own. As for the layout, no, I have made it myself, no template involved. And, same thing goes for the logo. Don't tell me you've never seen that kind of logo before, you're just connecting two things that look slightly similar. If you've seen a logo like that on another page, you'd think nothing of it. But since our names our similar, hey, I must have copied everything else that has the slightest bit of resemblence, eh?

Yes, I've gotten numerous complaints from people involved with that company saying that they're going to ruin my hosting service by telling everyone that my site is just a rip, and ruin my name. I'm sorry, but that just seems a little childish to me. I even offered to make some changes to my site, they didn't think it was necessary.

Maybe a bit more investigation before you accuse someone of ripping another site? I'm sure any one of us could go around to different hosting sites and find at least one - two things that are similar, does that mean that they're ripping? Some things might be more similar than others, but there are no grounds to start pointing fingers.

Regards.

You should both be ashamed of yourselves using a logo like that :D

(don't take that the wrong way - it was meant playfully).

Ah, no!

(They've found out where I really got my logo...)

Dear dinc,

I work for Elixant.com, and you know your little buddy, Luc? He's the one going around saying that you employed him, blah blah blah, and you're going to copy our site. When I last revised your site, I told him I liked it, but I hated it because of what Luc said. Now that I read your post, I feel ashamed that I tried to accuse you of stealing. I had no part-taking in the template making, as we hired a design firm to design us a template. I like your site, I like it a lot. The only thing I have against it, is that it's too close with our name, but hey, who cares?
I feel like an idiot now knowing that you did not try and copy Elixant. You should have a little chat with Luc Decau about running his mouth of.
Sorry for being rude, and disrespectful.
None of the staff involved has/have e-Mailed you saying we're going to ruine your business, I hope. I know both Mike and Mike wouldn't, I havn't, I know Nancy wouldn't. I don't know whether or not James, Adrian, or Ashley has, or who ever else is involved.

Sorry again, I just thought the sites were simliar, and I would like to announce that I did not create Elixant, I was just saying that they look a lot similiar, and a lot name-similar. I work there, and I just thought it did. I'm rambling on and on right now. So I'll stop.

Sorry again, dinc.

Take care

Well, thank you for understanding.

As for the name similarity -- I can fully understand that, I would have changed it once I found out, but I was too deep into hosting to change our name again.

And, I would really appreciate that you would talk to me about it instead of posting it on the forums, I could see if I was ignoring you if you had ever tried to message me, that would be a good reason to post on the forum. But, everytime someone talks to me about this topic I take it very seriously and do try to sort things out.

I don't want there to be any sort of friction between us, as I'm just not that type to have big confrontations. Life is already hectic enough as it is, you know?

And, who knows, maybe I will get around to changing the name. If that ever does happen, I'll inform Elixant right away. ;)

I'd suggest a mod close this thread...the issue is cleared up.
