I wouldn't suggest you take it. A friend of mine did for a while and it messed with him, so he quit using it. If I were you I'd avoid it.

My coach introduced me for it, and it really worked! . . . but there are different opinions about whether it's dangerous for your body or not. The problem is that it's fairly new and that nobody really knows anything about the long term effect.

My advice is not to use it. It is a shortcut and you'll see great results very fast, but as I said before: nobody know what it'll do to your body/health if taken over a long period.

It's a must (controversely, I know) in professional sport, as I found out when I was introduced/forced to use it, but after a while I decided not to bacause I was affraid of potential side effects.

It was too good to be true for me. I'd say, don't! Vitamins/minerals and protein bars, maybe protein powder if you're really into it.

Just my humble opinion.

:disagree:

its fine Matt.
Works very well, and you dont have to worry about side effects that many try to scare you with.

it is 100% more effective if you take it with Grape Juice.
(I hate GrapeJuice, but its a sacrifice you make).

I'd suggest you take it 2months, stop 2months, take it 2months, etc.
The first week you take it, take triple doses for the first 4-5 days, to get your body pumped to it.

Goodluck

I've never had any problems.
Been using it since I was a small lad going to a one room school.
Walking to school in six feet of snow, up hill, both directions.
It'd be warming on the woodstove (provided we had any wood).
I never drank it much. Mostly used it to warm my hands.

Whoops . . . . .

I thought this was a thread about Ovaltine

never mind

Creatine...

Now then, being a sport fanatic, I can tell you that creatine is good and bad, depending on who and where you get it from.

If you want to take a supplement like Creatine, you have to make sure you dont, get the supplement that advises you to mix "milk" with it, reason being, that supplemets that advise you to take milk with the supplement use cheap and modified ingredients, as these can cause nasty side affects....

If you need more advice contact me, I can advise of excellent companys that can supply guranteed products at affordable prices...

yeah i used creatine for a while. stopped cos i had to stop the sport for a while.
buy as reputable as u can afford. best effects are got thru mixing it with sucrose based drinks, i.e. pure orange juice not milk or water. also you have to run a very very high protein diet (soya protein is good) with virtually no fat. yeah it screws some people up but generally this is because they didnt train as hard as they should when they were on it and didnt have the correct diet or had heart problems. theres no avoiding the fact that you have to train yourself senseless on this stuff. dont drink much alcohol on it. dont do any other drugs whilst on it. do follow the guidelines for loading and maintanance. and train train train.
good luck. oh and it worked very very well for me. gave me more energy then a brazilian hooker ;)

I've been taking it for years. It's safe and effective.

All of the "creatine scares" you may have heard about were complete bull$hit!

Not to advertise my site, but you could learn much more on my board than you will here. :)

I hope this is not too long...

Creatine and its phosphorylated analogue, phosphocreatine, play important roles in the provision of energy during short-term, high-intensity exercise. Chemically, creatine is known as methylguanidine-acetic acid and is formed by the amino acids: arginine, glycine, and methionine. De novo synthesis of creatine occurs primarily in the liver and also occurs in the pancreas and the kidneys. The body of a 70-kg individual produces about 1 gram of creatine each day, and about 1.6% of the total creatine pool is turned over each day (1).

Creatine may also be obtained in the diet from foods such as meats and fish. 1-kg of uncooked steak contains about 4 grams of creatine. However, some of the creatine is degraded during the cooking process (2). The average person consumes about one gram of creatine each day from a regular diet (3).

as i understand it creatine speeds up the atp cycle. basicly gets energy to your muscles faster helping them recover faster and work harder for longer hence building them up quicker .

as for the scares people have died while on this stuff (note died while on, not from) mostly due to pre existing heart conditions etc.

And Creatinine is what's released when the body's muscles are wasting. It's one of the things Chronic Renal Failure patients monitor carefully (their muscles waste until they're basically skin covered skeletons). CRF is a terrible disease. Read up on this metabolic disaster to learn why your body is a temple and to treat it with respect.

Also be careful on lab tests. High Creatinine can worry doctors who may think you're coming down with liver or kidney failure (or experienced a serious injury).

Creatine is an essential amino acid, but I seriously question it's use as a "bulk" aid. There's more naturally (and safer) alternatives out there to gain muscle mass.

Remember egg whites are the most pure and best form of protein. Buy stock in eggs, and be creative in meal planning. They work exceptionally well and a very cheap bulk aid.

Just my .02.

There are no documented side effects created by creatine becuase it has only been in use for a short time.

I dont use it, but thats probably because i'm not looking to get huge fast. I just eat a proper diet and eat the foods that contain the nutrients i need.

Well, people seem to think that just because you don't see any side effects when you start using it, everything is fine and safe. Or as Prince states: All of the "creatine scares" you may have heard about were complete bull****!

Well, creatine is probably safe, I have used it myself and: NOTHING HAPPENED. IM STILL ALIVE - I GUESS EVERYTHING IS FINE! (and yes it worked!)

As Woodshed said:There are no documented side effects created by creatine becuase it has only been in use for a short time.

How Prince and RunofTheMill can be so sure about the long term effect, I don't know. Im not just taking about 5 or 10 years.

Note that Im not saying that it is dangerous, maybe it's not. I hope so for my own sake :) I just think people should keep an open mind and not just use it and think everything is fine just because magazines, personal trainers or some doctors (getting paid to advertise) for something when nobody really know anything about long term side effects.

If you search Google for creatine side effects you'll get all the online shops websites which all talk about side effects and rumors.

This is taken from: www.creatinemonyhydrate.net
Blood Pressure: There was some concern that the fluid retention as a result of creatine use could increase a person's blood pressure. This issue was recently a topic of a scientific study that found that blood pressure did not increase following 5 days of creatine use.

Well, maybe that's correct. But what about after 10 years of creatine use?

I guess it's just the 'everything is fine. You don't have to worry at all' attitude I don't like.
