Would be nice if they implemented a mail list to keep members informed so in the event their site is down and clients are unable to access VDI for information, clients still receive information that they can pass on to their customers. Would help us a great deal in our efforts to support our customers!

Back up now it looks like, but this is becoming an all to common occurence with VDI as of late. My current host is with Level3 and VDI, and I was thinking of transferring to another host with the same, but now I'm wondering if that's a good idea....

to inform all,

Verizion "is supposed to be testing a main fiber which failed on friday" VDI is running on protect.

They are testing the protect "which is a NO NO"

We just told them not to touch the protect and not to do anytesting till further notice.

I am trying to put my hair back in, I should move this whole operation to a telecom Hotel and advoid all loops.

Welcome to sunday folks..

May i ask what a protect is william, never heard of that phrase before, is that a backup line for when your main fiber feed goes down?

As for putting your hair back in, well you might have better luck with that Ronco hair in a can stuff they advertise on sunday infomercials.....

I agree. If it's down, everyone knows. No need posting a new thread everytime.

On a typical cuircuit they run a pair point to point, we have 2 pair, 1 fails they have another to use in case of failure.

called main and protect, when main fails they switch you over to protect.

since the main failed they have been testing the cuircuts, they are not supposed to touch the protect, well they did, and they didn`t know it

so some guy in a manhole somewhere with thick glasses and could be drunk is guessing which line to play with.

I`m going to get dead rats and put it on my head

I sure don't agree. Especially since two downtimes ago, part of VDI clients were live, and others of us weren't. When we can't communicate with VDI via their own site to make sure they know we're amongs the ones NOT live, this is our only way of letting them know.

Are you VDI's client directly or a client of a host inside VDI? Have you tried to call them via phone? I understand your worry here (gee, I would be very worry!!!), but then it's not that the whole VDI is down again, is it?

cheers,

Yes, Nuke.to is a direct client of VDI - I am customer support for Nuke.to.

I have recommended Nuke.to's owner contact VDI already.

Thanks.

Since my last post, I finally heard from the owner of IIZA.NET and Nuke.to. I apologize for my heretofore posting that we are a direct client of VDI. I now know that we are colacated in vdi.net with interserver.net. That's apparently much worse, as we have been completely unable to reach them regarding the downtime of our server.

Their "emergency reboot server" telephone number takes you to a residential answering machine on which machine I left a message around 10:30 a.m and there's been no response whatsoever. I even redialed the number to make sure I had indeed reached the number given me for same, and did confirm I had put the message on an answering machine at the number given me.

I then tried to access interserver.net's site, and received the standard NOT FOUND page. I next checked contact info for internetserver.net and access their IP addy directly. That was interesting. Got a page stating Apache server software has been installed successfully, but site owner needs to upload site files so that this page was not seen. It suggested sending an email to webmaster@interserver.net. Did that, and there's been no response.

I am completely stunned and frustrated about the situation. It is causing customers to begin thinking about bailing from hosting with us. :( And I don't know what else I can do at this point in attempting to get our server back on line. :0

The host is interserver.net - I keep typo'ing it to internetserver.net which is an entirely different host and not involved with us at all. I've corrected my post herein. My brain is obviously fried - from lack of sleep and ongoing monitoring these problems.

Not to bring this off topic, but I don't think that is such a good idea with the python you have :D

Anyway..vdi is up and fast now
