View Full Version : Reseller plans?

I am still quite new to the web hosting business. There are two types of reseller plans:

1) you purchase a big amount of web space and create your own plans.

2) you purchase web hosting plans that are already created for a low price and sell them at your rates.

Which do you think is the best?

Which do you think is more profitable?

Which companies would you recommend for each?

Basically for both options, I would prefer companies that offer unlimited subdomains, email, ftp.

Any feedback is welcome.

Thanks.

it depends what your business plan really is.

If you are new to reselling I would suggest starting out with individual plans at a large discount and marking them up.

This does two things, if you end up not selling many plans then you are not paying for a large bulk account. This also leaves you some flexibility if you decide to resell for more then one company, like if you wanted to sell NT and unix plans.

I'd have to agree with Curt.... buying discounted plans and reselling them for more than you pay is a safer and cheaper way to get started.

Buying a large amount of disk space and creating your own plans would then be your next logical step, since you could probably make more profits that way.

Good luck in your search!

Ok, thanks for the feedback.

Which company would you say has the best individual plan reselling program?

I have personally had very good luck with hostingmatters.com (http://hostingmatters.com). Even though I now have my own server I still keep some accounts with them as a reseller. They provide great support!

www.optimumhosting.com is good... but you have to buy a membership..... $20.00/month I think.
