does everyone.net no longer offer the free email for your sites?

SoftWareRevue 11-04-2001, 12:13 AM No zentek 11-04-2001, 01:33 PM if you ALREADY have a free site with them... they still operate free. However, if you want to sign up for a NEW free site... nope... won't work. El Nino 11-04-2001, 03:14 PM Does bigmailbox.com support mail for subdomains like everyone.net did? If I wanted to offer mail at members.mydomain.com and techhelp.mydomain.com and still have regular mail at mydomain.com(not at bigmailbox), can this work with bigmailbox? Jason King 11-04-2001, 04:18 PM They took some of the goodies away awhile back, like running activity reports. :bawling: Angel78 11-04-2001, 04:27 PM I think they charge a 1000 $ setup fee or something like that Janet 11-05-2001, 05:08 PM Like with many other .com's, I think they're financially unstable right now. WaldoUK 11-06-2001, 06:46 PM Does anyone else know of a similar service to Everyone.net and bigmailbox.com? (Whether a service or a script). I wish to offer free e-mail addresses (@mydomain.com) for a forthcoming site and I'm trying to find out what options are available to me? Thanks, kmb999 11-06-2001, 08:55 PM Fastmail.fm is the best one at the current time to offer these services. They don't offer them directly from their site though. You need to email Jeremy (jAThowardDOTfm) and ask him about their co-branded service options. Tell him that Kyle sent you. ;) akashik 11-07-2001, 10:38 AM We just set up a guy for www.oemmail.com a few weeks ago. He came from another host to us, so I guess he'd been using them (oemmail) for a while - seemed happy with them. Greg Moore WaldoUK 11-07-2001, 11:20 AM Greg and Kyle... Thanks for the reply, anyone else got any thoughts, opinions or suggestions? :) Newbuyer 11-07-2001, 09:18 PM Once Everyone.net took it upon themselves to offer its subscribers the opportunity to subscribe to their 'Mail Plus' program, I took down my Email service, AlpineMail.com. 'Mail Plus' is a fee-based service, where for $19.99/year, Everyone.net (and thus AlpineMail.com) users could've received ad-free Email. We disagreed with Everyone.net making this offer without getting permission from its domain owners. Since 'Mail Plus' was being offered to our users without our approval, we reluctantly made the decision to disable AlpineMail.com entirely. Here's an interesting thread (http://www.geekvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=13241) on the subject. I ran this Email service as a promotional tool for AlpineZone.com. I saw very little benefit to running an Email service. In my opinion, it's more trouble than it's worth, especially when Everyone.net sucks folks into paying for it. Your users will have more rights once it's no longer a free service and the "you get what you pay for" theory is out the window. Janet 11-07-2001, 10:03 PM It looks like everyone.net is getting desperate to raise reveune, or they'll go under. I agree that selling MailPlus upgrades, and making it sound like the domain owner is the one offering the upgrade, is not a good thing. |
