Hello everyone.

Does anyone here use any TracFone service? I recently got a TracFone for my birthday yesterday, but I got 100 free minutes with it, plus some other cards, and I only have 22.5 minutes left of my service. If I let it go down to 0 units left, I will lose my number.

Should I just get a job and buy a phone that is on a plan with Unlimited Minutes or what? I really like this phone, but I have a theory:

If I have to keep buying cards (lowest is like $20.00) -- about 2 a week, I will have enough for a plan I like. Although, this plan doesn't have any fee's, only catch is, you must buy a new card when your minutes are almost gone. That's the reason I like this phone best, is I don't have to pay an insurance fee, activation fee, all that other thing.

Money is not a problem for my parents, I just wanted to pay for something on my own, do you understand what I'm saying?

I thought since a lot of you use cellphones, I could ask for advice here.
So, should I keep the TracFone, or get a monthly plan?

:)

If you use the phone once a month, prepay is great, otherwise, shell the money out for a full blown plan

You can get unlimited minutes anywhere in the US in my areas for less than $45 a month, I can't see ever getting a prepay phone because the other plans are so cheap, however some people have such terrible credit prepay is the only way to go.

Odd Fact

If you use the phone enough getting a regular plan is the way to go. Tracfones are mainly for people who either don't use the phone much or do not have credit.

We have one TracFone for emergency use. When purchased they had specials on the yearly card and other timed cards. Check thier website for specials.

Looks like you need a regular cell phone plan, that will probably end up being cheaper for you.

If you don't have credit, I guess you can get someone to co-sign your contract.

My wife has a tracfone that she uses just once in a while and that she got just in case of emergency.

Either quit using it so much or get a regular contract. Tracfone and other pay as you go plans are meant for occasional use.
If Cricket is in your area, they offer inexpensive local service for a flat rate, no long term contracts.

Go with a monthly paid phone. They are better at the end. You don't have to pay for insurance if you don't want to on monthly paid phones. Another thing is that if you pay insurance and you phone breaks or something they will get you a replacement, but if they don't have the same model you had they will send you a better phone. While prepaid, if it breaks you have to buy a new one.
Just my Opinion

Thanks :)

I just went and bought a yearly card shown on their website for $300 bucks, ugh, did that lastnight before reading there. I think if I don't like this phone, after my minutes are up, I'm going to get a monthly plan.
I'm under the age of 18 years old, so I don't have a creditcard, unless my parents use theirs.

Thanks for all your help.
